Apple TV+ has dropped a brand new, official trailer for Shrinking Season 3, and it hints at a quiet yet thoughtful return. The comedy-drama title features Jason Segel and Harrison Ford in lead roles.

The trailer opens with the show's unique brand of humor:

"Ta-da! The GOAT is back."

The new season is set to air in January. While Season 1 and 2 dry humor met vulnerability, Season 3’s trailer suggests that the tale will now lean harder into emotions.

The biggest talking point of the show’s return is Michael J. Fox. His entry into the show marks a significant step in his career after stepping away in 2020 due to speech issues connected to Parkinson’s disease.

The trailer of Season 3 introduces Fox in a grounded scene where he is seen seated in a medical room beside Harrison Ford’s Dr. Paul Rhoades. The name of Fox's character is not yet revealed, but the character asks Paul what he is there for. Paul answers:

“Parkinson’s.”

Fox responds:

“Just a haircut.”

They both laugh, and the moment speaks louder than words can. Paul’s Parkinson’s diagnosis has been part of Shrinking since Season 1. He initially tried to hide his condition and the fact that it affects him deeply.

As the series progressed, this avoidance became a burden. Season by season, the show forced Paul to come face-to-face with reality. Fox’s introduction feels tied to that arc, not layered on top of it. Shrinking has always relied on themes of aging, loss of control, and how humor can coexist with discomfort. In May 2025, Fox's casting was confirmed. It reunites him with Shrinking co-creator Bill Lawrence.

Fox was a familiar face for four seasons of Lawrence’s ABC sitcom, Spin City. He eventually exited in 2000 due to issues related to Parkinson's he was having. After this, he also featured in a notable guest role on Scrubs. This was another project by Lawrence. Beyond Fox, Season 3 brings an interesting ensemble where Segel returns to his role as Jimmy. He is the therapist who often crosses professional boundaries, marked by immense grief.

Instead of following clinical rules, he speaks his heart out, but these actions create consequences. Not only do his patients, but his own personal life gets affected as well. Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley all return in central roles.

The new season opens its stage to the returning stars, including Brett Goldstein, Wendie Malick, Cobie Smulders, and Damon Wayans Jr. Jeff Daniels is a new addition, along with Michael J Fox.

Executive producers include Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Brian Gallivan, Ashley Nicole Black, and Bill Posley.

Shrinking Season 3 will premiere globally on Wednesday, January 28, on Apple TV+. New episodes will drop weekly every Wednesday through April 8, 2026.
