The 2000s produced some of the most popular sitcoms ever made. These sitcoms ensured a healthy dose of funny situations, close friendship and smart scripts. Moreover, esch possessed its unique style and characters that are recalled even today by the fans. From office shenanigans to weird families and intelligent scientists, these tales were laugh a minute and truly turned into comfort shows.

The sitcoms showed how life in its ordinary form can be amusing. This article lists out seven sitcoms that were great in that period and gives an example of an episode to prove why these shows became so memorable.

Parks and Recreation is among the most enjoyable and heart-warming American sitcoms that aired from 2009 to 2015. It is based around the life of Leslie Knope, an upbeat employee in the Parks Department of Pawnee, Indiana. She wants to fix her town and help her nurse friend Ann Perkins fill in an empty pit to build a park. The sitcom comes with her hilarious fellow workers, such as Ron Swanson, who hates government regulations.

The episode "Park Safety" shows Jerry Gergich arriving in the workplace with a broken arm and claims he was mugged. Leslie swears to do something in order to make the park a safer place.

The whole crew gets friendly and overprotective about Jerry. However, it is the clumsiness of Jerry that brings the real laughs. He drops things and mispronounces words, and everybody tries not to laugh at him. This episode actually reveals that the ordinary life events can create comedy gold.


6. How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)

How I Met Your Mother is an emotional and funny sitcom that aired between 2005 and 2014. It is about how Ted Mosby is able to tell his children how he met their mother. Ted resides in New York together with his best friend, Marshall, and the fiancee of Marshall, Lily. Their best friends are Robin, who is sweet and strong, as well as Barney, who is goofy and full of surprises. The jokes are laced with real feelings as the group deals with love, work and growing up.

Leonard and Sheldon are friends who are employed at Caltech. They have friends such as Howard, who is an engineer, and Raj, an astrophysicist. Penny is their neighbour and assists them in their real-life and social adjustment matters. The show combines science with humorous circumstances regarding love and friendship. Further on, other characters such as Amy and Bernadette become members of the group and introduce fresh stories.

In the episode "The Einstein Approximation," Sheldon becomes fixated on a challenging physics topic. He is unable to sleep and begins to behave as an outcast. He believes that he can resolve it by engaging in straightforward labour. One night, Leonard discovers Sheldon in a ball pit at a playhouse. Sheldon continues to jump up and say Bazinga out like a child. It is all the more funny with Leonard having had enough.


4. Scrubs (2001-2010)

Scrubs is a humorous and sentimental medical comedy sitcom that aired between the years 2001 and 2010. It tracks the lives of three young doctors, J.D., Turk and Elliot, on their introductory years of work at Sacred Heart Hospital. The protagonist is J.D., and the narration is done in the form of his thoughts and ridiculous daydreams. He is best friends with Turk, who is a surgeon. Elliot is another intern, and J.D. is attracted to her. Hospital drama and jokes, as well as heartwarming moments, are mixed in the show.

The episode My Fruit Cups depicts a situation where J.D. slips a coin in a cup filled with coffee and wedges his hand in an effort to retrieve it. Tracy Jordan is the wild star of the show who often causes trouble. Jenna Maroney is dramatic and full of herself. The show is known for fast jokes and smart writing.

In the episode "Jack-Tor," Jack makes a video for a product and asks Liz to include it in a sketch. Liz agrees only if Jack acts in it. Jack shows his outtakes and proves he cannot act at all. He forgets lines and walks strangely on camera. The team watches in shock. Jack's failure is so comical since he is normally confident and serious. Alec Baldwin won an Emmy for this episode.


2. Arrested Development (2003-2006)

Arrested Development is about the family of the Bluths, who lost their fortune after the father, George Sr., was accused of fraud. The eldest son, Michael Bluth, is trying to keep the family going. His relatives include Gob, a poor magician, Lindsay, who is selfish, Buster, who remains very attached to their mother, Lucille, and two teenagers named George Michael and Maeby. It has gained a solid reputation for its clever use of jokes and narratives across episodes.

Viewers might remember a scene where Michael, on numerous occasions, overhears his dad saying there is always money in the banana stand. He thinks that it is a mere expression. He burns the stand when he requires money so as to portray that he is superior. Later, George Sr. reveals to him that there was money inside the walls all the time. Michael is in shock. This episode is comedic with a sad twist. This episode proves how this sitcom can be really funny and, at the same time, smart in terms of writing.

The Office is an extremely popular American sitcom that ran between 2005-2013. It is based at the Scranton branch of a paper company referred to as Dunder Mifflin. The camera follows their employees and their manager, Michael Scott, in their everyday lives. He reverses the clock nearly every time and says the wrong thing. Pam and Jim are two of the good colleagues and have fallen in love. Dwight is very serious about his job and often has conflicts with Jim.

The performance is respected due to its humour, due to awkward situations and emotional incidents. In the first episode, Jim does a prank on Dwight by placing his stapler in a lime Jell-O block. He gazes confused and irate when he sees it there. He insists on knowing who did this when Jim pretends to be innocent. This is one of the most well-known scenes in the entire series. Jim enjoys making fun of Dwight so much that it sets up a lot of funny scenarios.
