Young Sheldon presented only one Halloween episode. While the episode was witty and explored more of the Cooper family, it missed a perfect opportunity to give the viewers a glimpse into Sheldon's love for cosplay and Halloween.
Other than missing the opportunity to set up the TBBT storyline about how he developed this love for elaborate costume events, it also did not depict much of Sheldon. Episode 2 of Young Sheldon Season 2 focused mainly on Mary's attempt to stop Sheldon's drama teacher from creating a gruesome Halloween event and Georgie trying to impress Veronica.
It didn't depict any important detail that suggested how Sheldon developed a special affinity toward the holiday. Therefore, it missed the opportunity to set up an important detail that was among the crucial tropes in TBBT.
More on this in our story.
Young Sheldon missed setting up the storyline about Sheldon's love for Halloween
TBBT, where Sheldon is not the only protagonist, showcased four episodes covering the spooky holiday and showed how involved and excited Sheldon seemed during it. His working on creating elaborate costumes, and all the misadventures that he experienced are among the fan favorite moments. While we know an adult Sheldon loved cosplay and Halooween, we couldn't see how his love for the holiday came into existence.
In Young Sheldon Season 2 Episode titled, Seven Deadly Sins and a Carl Sagan, mostly focused on Sheldon's mother and brother. Mary is not happy about Sheldon's drama teacher, Gene Lundy, taking over the play and displaying a hell house depicting the seven sins. This sabotages Georgie's plan to flirt with Veronica after they both go to the hell house, and the latter regrets kissing Georgie and goes to Mary's heaven section. She asks forgiveness from Jesus and vows to devote her life to Christianity. This results in Georgie becoming an atheist.
Sheldon appears for just a while and is seen going trick-or-treating with his sister, Missy. The only exciting thing happening to Sheldon in this Young Sheldon episode is at the end when his Carl Sagan outfit was recognised by a woman.

In TBBT, Sheldon appeared very much excited for Halloween, and the gang gave us several gags and moments, such as when Sheldon and Howard dressed up as each other in Season 12, Episode 6. Another popular moment from Halloween was Sheldon dressed up as The Doppler Effect, but not understand why his costume was regarded as strange.
However, a show, which was supposed to give the viewers a look into Sheldon's childhood and connect it with the adult Sheldon that we love in TBBT, failed to set up the storyline of the significance of Halloween in Sheldon's life. In TBBT, Sheldon is often seen remembering Halloween as one of the most memorable holidays for him, but Young Sheldon did not show how the spooky October Holiday became so close to Sheldon's heart.
Furthermore, the one episode that it showcased did not even have Sheldon in the main narrative, as it mostly focused on Georgie and Mary. As the series has already wrapped up in 2024, this big storyline of Sheldon's life remains unexplored.
Young Sheldon stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Montana Jordan, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord, Annie Potts, and Matt Hobby, among several others.
