More about The Handmaid’s Tale
Based on Canadian writer Margaret Atwood’s groundbreaking dystopian novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale follows the story of a
“A woman forced into sexual slavery who struggles to survive in a totalitarian, fundamentalist society in what used to be the United States.”
As the finale will bring an end to the story of June Osborne in The Handmaid’s Tale, Elizabeth Moss, who has played the character for six seasons, told Variety,
“I hope that she gives courage to somebody who needs it, whether it’s in our country or another country. She’s somebody that people can hopefully look up to. She’s very brave, and I look up to her.”
Madeline Brewer, who plays the role of Janine Lindo, also talked about the final season to Variety, saying,
“It goes a little wild there toward the end, and I think it’s what the fans have been waiting six seasons for — they’ve been waiting for revolution. We had a long resistance, we had a lot of building and building and really a slow burn to what is an outrageous revolution, truly, in the end.”
With the revolution emerging in full force in Gilead, it now remains to be seen how the finale wraps up the story of the Handmaids and sets up the premise for the sequel, The Testaments, also based on Atwood’s novel of the same name.
The Handmaid’s Tale can be streamed on Hulu.
