The Christmas classic and box-office success, The Holiday, is set to be adapted into a limited series by Apple TV+. Apple TV+ has had largely successful years recently, owing to titles like Foundation, The Studio, Severance, Silo, Slow Horses, and The Morning Show. It appears that the streamer is now stepping into the rom-com category and choosing a global classic adaptation to do so.

According to reports, the idea of the series will be kept similar to the 2006 movie, and hopefully, the series will be greenlit after actors are cast for the series adaptation. Here's everything we know about the Apple TV adaptation.

According to reports, Apple TV+ is developing a TV series adaptation of the beloved Christmas classic The Holiday. The 2006 movie starring Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, and Jude Law is set to be rebooted with a similar premise but new characters.

What is the premise for the Apple TV+ adaptation?

According to reports, the premise of the Apple TV adaptation of The Holiday is set to remain the same as the 2006 film. Two women, one American and the other British, decide to exchange their lives for the holidays on a whim and end up finding their true loves by the time they have to go back to their own lives.

The 2006 movie synopsis reads:

"In Nancy Meyers' The Holiday, a romantic comedy from the director of Something's Gotta Give and What Women Want, two women trade homes only to find that a change of address can change their lives. Iris (Winslet) is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Across the globe, Amanda (Diaz), realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. "

The official synopsis continues to read:

"They meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday. Iris moves into Amanda's L.A. house in sunny California as Amanda arrives in the snow covered English countryside. Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris' handsome brother Graham (Law) and Iris, with inspiration provided by legendary screenwriter Arthur (Wallach), mends her heart when she meets film composer Miles (Black)."

The Apple TV+ series adaptation is set to preserve the basic premise of the film and is looking for actors on both sides of the Atlantic.

Has Apple TV+ cast any actors for the adaptation

According to reports, the adaptation is still in the development stages, and no actors have been cast for the series. However, the search for the series lead is on across the Atlantic, and the streamer will, in all likelihood, greenlight the project after actors are cast for the adaptation.

Who is involved in the Apple TV+ adaptation of The Holiday

As of now, since no actors have been cast for the Apple TV+ adaptation, the only official involvement is Krissie Ducker as writer and executive producer, along with Rob Delaney as a writer. The adaptation is set to be produced by Left Bank Pictures.

Additionally, Nancy Meyers, who wrote, directed, and produced the 2006 movie, is not involved in the Apple TV+ adaptation of the classic.
