The Hunting Wives has become one of the summer’s buzziest shows on Netflix, piquing viewers’ interest with its tantalizing mix of mystery, drama, and layered character relationships. Based in the seemingly peaceful town of Meadow Brook, Texas, the series explores the lives of women whose carefully maintained facades overshadow their underlying desires.

The show is also notable for its crisp characterizations, especially of the women who slip and slide around morality and social structures. All plot lines intertwine sex, suspense, and scandal, filled with jaw-dropping turns of events, and with a deep focus on desire, power, and how we all keep our secrets.

The Hunting Wives: What did Chrissy Metz say about a potential Season 2

A combination of mystery and whodunit with drama between characters keeps us guessing as to the identities and motivations of those portrayed and suggests that a second season could be in the works. During her appearance on the Call It What It Is podcast on Monday, August 25, Chrissy Metz, who plays Starr, discussed the possibility of The Hunting Wives returning for another season. She said:

“Listen, if there’s money around. But I don’t know. It’s also kind of one of those things like, do they want to do a second season? But I think people would be on the ride. I think people are like, ‘Oh yeah, what else?’”

Adding further, she opened up about the sex scenes in the show:

“Because obviously I was not in all the wild scenes, at least not the sexual ones, but it was like, ‘Oh, it’s kind of jarring,’ and I knew what was coming,” she continued. “And some people are like, ‘I fast-forward through all this sex stuff, and you know, I like the other stuff,’ and I’m like, ‘Great, there’s something for everyone. I never take anything to heart. Initially in my career, I certainly did. And now I’m like, I can’t attach to the good or the bad. It’s just, it’s their opinion, and I hope it’s good, and if it’s not, OK.”

From the outside, the community in The Hunting Wives seems perfect and disciplined, but inside, alliances, betrayals, and illicit love affairs constantly shift the balance of power. This makes the series stand out for its careful blend of emotional depth and mystery.

What did the other cast member and the director say about a potential Season 2 of The Hunting Wives?

Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman, who play Sophie and Margo, respectively, have shared their hopes for another season. In an interview with DECIDER, the director Rebecca Cutter said:

"I have a lot in my mind for Season 2 about Sophie and Margo, also about some murder stuff. And then there’s a reality show on the horizon, maybe some new people come to town. Maybe there’s some new troubles that arise. We have our two wonderful cop characters, Salazar and Flynn. So there’s a lot stewing in my brain right now for Season 2."

In an interview with Vulture, Malin Åkerman, who plays Margo in the Netflix drama, explored the possibility of a second season. She also speculated on future storylines, suggesting that Margo could reconcile with Jed while still navigating the consequences of her past actions in The Hunting Wives. She added,

"We have not heard anything. It’s early days, but I’m hoping the fact that we’ve done so well in the first two weeks and there’s been such a buzz is a good sign."

Brittany Snow, in an interview with Collider, weighed in on the talks of The Hunting Wives Season 2, saying:

"I think the end is really interesting and I know that we would deal with it in Season 2. There are a lot of questions that didn’t get answered because Rebecca wants to answer them in the next season if we get one. We shot the scene where I am drunk and talking to Abby, that got seen on the trail cam, that showed how I even got there with Abby and what I’m trying to say to her."

Both actresses emphasized that the dramatic twists and morally complex arcs would be central to a potential The Hunting Wives Season 2, giving fans plenty to anticipate.

What is Netflix's new drama The Hunting Wives about?

At its core, The Hunting Wives is about Sophie, Margo, and their love lives, at the same time showing how personal ambition, deceit, and desire intersect. Adapted from a novel by May Cobb, the show mixes dark comedy, suspense, and melodrama, examining how secrets, power struggles, and moral compromises are just as toxic to friendships as to relationships. It is also a critique of how decisions made in the past echo in the present, particularly in a central whodunit plot that leaves the viewer guessing and guessing wrong about the real nature of betrayal, loyalty, and justice.

The Hunting Wives has not been confirmed for season two by Netflix, but the cast and creator have revealed several storylines that could be further developed if the drama is recommissioned. With its rabid fan base and layered storytelling, the series is already a talker weeks after its release.
