Netflix’s latest addition, The Hunting Wives, which was released on July 21, 2025, is the newest fan-favorite show with a gripping and twisty story that follows the unusual lives of a group of elite wives. The series starts with Brittany Snow’s Sophie moving to Texas from Boston with her husband and getting involved with the elite group called the hunting wives, where she meets Margo (Malin Akerman).

While they both start a romantic relationship in secret from their husbands, the death of a young girl named Abby causes the group to fall apart, with one member, Jill, being arrested as the suspect. However, it turns out that Jill was not the killer, nor was Sophie, whose gun was used to kill Abby. It was Margo who actually killed Abby while she was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Who killed Abby in The Hunting Wives? Details explored

As mentioned, it was Margo who killed Abby in The Hunting Wives, not Jill or Sophie. In the finale, it was revealed that Abby had discovered Margo’s relationship with her boyfriend, Brad. Margo and Brad were seeing each other behind her husband Jed’s back, as she was not allowed to see another man in their open marriage. She became pregnant with Brad's child and had to have an abortion without anyone knowing because it could have hurt Jed’s campaign, especially since he was pushing an anti-abortion bill.

Brad confesses this to Pastor Pete, who eventually confronts Abby with the information, thinking he’s talking about her. But this confirms Abby’s suspicions, and she goes to confront Margo with it.

However, she never returned after confronting Margo, and the murder was eventually blamed on Jill, Brad’s mother. Later, Sophie discovered that it was actually Margo herself who had killed Abby, and she confronted her out of a sense of betrayal. This accident brought Sophie onto the same page as Margo. Now, if either of them wanted to go to the police, the other would follow, creating one of the best endings, which left viewers eager for The Hunting Wives season 2.
