Your favorite lads are returning to your screens as creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley are looking to revive The Inbetweeners, their hit British coming-of-age sitcom, which premiered on E4 in 2008.

Morris and Beesley (through their 2015-founded company Fudge Park Productions) have entered into an agreement with the production company Banijay UK to revive their hot comedy title. While the details on the project are scarce, the creators have suggested that the revival show will be based on the original four characters, the foul-mouthed and awkward Brit teens.

The Inbetweeners was originally conceived by creators Morris and Beesley as a more realistic representation of Brit teens and lad culture in the UK to its fellow British sitcom, Skins. The hit sitcom largely revolves around four friends at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive and was well-received by audiences.

What is The Inbetweeners about?

The Inbetweeners is a 2008 British sitcom that follows the misadventures of the suburban teenager William McKenzie (Simon Bird) and his three friends Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), and Jay Cartwright (James Buckley). Through the daily lives of these four friends at Rudge Park Comprehensive, the sitcom portrayed a realistic picture of lad culture and school life in the UK. Some of the themes explored in the sitcom include the friends' failed sexual encounters, male friendships, challenges with an uncaring school staff, the notion of masculinity and male bonding and adolescent sexuality.

The Inbetweeners ran for three seasons till 2010 and was nominated for two BAFTAs in the category of Best Situation Comedy. Additionally, the sitcom bagged the British Academy Television Award in 2010 and the British Comedy Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Comedy in 2011.

While the British sitcom saw a short run of only three seasons, it had a huge impact on pop culture, even leading to two spin-off movies and an American version on MTV in 2012.

The first movie, released on 17 August 2011, set a record for the biggest opening weekend in the UK, followed by an equally impressive sequel on 6 August 2014, which saw record-breaking success at the box office. While The Inbetweeners movie charmed its audience, the American version failed and was canceled after only one season due to poor ratings and reviews.
