Following their breakthrough horror series From, MGM+ has unveiled the first trailer for The Institute, the upcoming Stephen King adaptation.

The network is certainly no stranger to adapting the King of Horror's works, having previously adapted his short story Jerusalem's Lot into Chapelwaite.

Written by Benjamin Cavell and directed by Jack Bender (From), The Institute is based on King's 2019 supernatural horror novel and stars Joe Freeman and Ben Barnes.

The first trailer sets the spooky vibe of the show, introducing us to the eerie and titular facility, which traps children with supernatural abilities.

The trailer opens with the line:

“There are things going on that you would not believe.''

The ominous voiceover is followed by fast-moving snippets of teenage children being subjected to weird experiments, who seemed to possess supernatural abilities.

The series will arrive on MGM+ on July 13, 2025.

The Institute: Exploring the first trailer for the upcoming Stephen King adaptation

MGM+ finally unveiled the first trailer for Stephen King's The Institute, confirming the release date for July 13, 2025. The series will consist of a total of eight episodes, with a 2-episode premiere on Sunday, July 13.

The first trailer introduces the audience to a Stranger Things-esque lab, where teen children with supernatural abilities are captured and likely experimented on.

Teen Luke Ellis finds himself locked in this facility with other children like him, who are also mysteriously transported to the place and are trying to find a way out.

While the children work their way out of the Institute, Luke confronts the head of the facility, the mysterious Ms. Sigsby, who seems unbothered by the children locked in her facility.

In addition, the trailer also introduces us to a police officer, Tim Jamieson, who moved to a nearby town to restart his life. However, he soon gets entangled in the mystery of this eerie place and his story will collide with Luke's.
