Ironheart, which released its second trailer on June 9, 2025, has confirmed Parker Robbins as its main villain. Set a few days after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), the upcoming show is Riri Williams's story of becoming a superhero while she is heavily influenced by Parker Robbins.

While most of the show's first trailer shows Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, being the main villain, some Marvel fans have speculated about the involvement of another villain after watching the second trailer. Many fans think that Mephisto, who was last referenced in Agatha All Along, will make its debut appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Ironheart.

Why do fans think Mephisto might be in Ironheart?

Ironheart, from the first trailer, made it clear that Riri Williams means business. As she says in the first trailer for the show,

"After my internship abroad, I wanna build something undeniable. Something..."

Parker Robbins asks,

"Important?"

Riri responds,

"...Iconic."

Hence, while it was a surprise seeing Riri Williams draw red transmutation circles and include similar powers in her suit, in the second trailer, it further proved how much she craves power and how far she's willing to go for it.

The show is meant to show the contrast between technological and magical powers. Riri Williams represents technology, and Parker Robbins represents magic. But in a few scenes in the second trailer, we see Williams embrace magical powers as well.

As one fan pointed out on X,

"Red transmutation circles in Ironheart? Yeah, they're definitely teasing Mephisto. But since when does Riri Williams do magic? Not feeling great about this show, vibes are kinda off."

The red transmutation circles could be a sign of Mephisto appearing in the show, or possibly even controlling Parker Robbins.

Another fan made a post on X, referencing the red transmutation circles Riri draws in the new trailer, asking,

"are we finally seeing Mephisto..."

Another fan seemed to be very confident about Mephisto's appearance in the show, as they said,

"oh Mephisto is 100% showing up"

Marvel has not officially confirmed whether Mephisto will appear on the show. However, rumours suggest that Sacha Baron Cohen has been cast as Mephisto. In October 2023, a copyright listing for Ironheart appeared in the U.S. Copyright Office Public Records System, which named Cohen as a part of the cast, in the role of "Mystery Man."

This new update came to light two years after the widespread theories that Mephisto would appear in WandaVision, which were proven to be incorrect.

Until Marvel officially addresses Mephisto’s involvement in the show, the only confirmed antagonist is The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos.

As Marvel's official synopsis of the show states, Robbins and Williams will come head-to-head in the show (whether Mephisto makes an appearance or not). The official synopsis reads,

"Set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Marvel Television’s “Ironheart” pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka 'The Hood' (Anthony Ramos)."

Ironheart will be released in a three-episode premiere on June 24, 2025, on Disney+.
