The Librarians: The Next Chapter is all set to premiere on TNT with the first two episodes spread out over May 25 and May 26, 2025, and a weekly release on Monday for the rest of the episodes. To add to the excitement, there is a surprising new update about the TNT spin-off series.

Showrunner Dean Devlin recently revealed in a conversation with Screen Rant that they had tremendous development regarding the second season of the yet-to-premiere-with-the-first-season show. Here's why this is exceptional news for the fans of The Librarians.

The Librarians (the original show) was a spin-off from the Librarian film series and aired on TNT for four seasons (2014-2018). In good news for the Librarian fans, CW announced in 2023 that a sequel series would be developed. However, the show was later pulled from their lineup. Luckily, TNT picked up the sequel, and cut to now, the show is all set to premiere with two episodes of the first season.

To make things even better, TNT renewed the show for a second season even before the first one aired. In a recent interview, Dean Delvin, the showrunner, gave a surprising update regarding the future of The Librarians: The Next Chapter. Delvin, updating on the second season, revealed that since the show was already renewed for another season, they were almost halfway through shooting it.

"We are halfway through shooting season 2, which is incredible."

The Librarians: The Next Chapter is set to premiere with Callum McGowan, Olivia Morris, and Jessica Green, as well as the return of Christian Kane from the original TNT series. The fact that the show is set to debut with the guarantee of a second season allows the showrunner to perfectly work on the pacing and the development of the characters and the story without relying on the first season's performance for the second season's future.

TNT's The Librarians: The Next Chapter will continue to build on the world introduced in the original series. After the two-episode premiere on May 25 and 26, the show will air an episode every Monday on TNT. Vikram Chamberlin, played by Callum McGowan, a time traveler stuck in the present, will be faced with the consequences of his disastrous actions and a team to help him make things right within six months, as the show's description at TNT reads:

"In this spinoff of the original series "The Librarians," a Librarian from the past time travels to the present and finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He is given a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new team of Librarians."
