Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 is officially in production, and fans couldn't be more excited considering the explosive cliffhanger that Season 3 left us on. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo's Mickey Haller is returning as Los Angeles's dedicated defense attorney in The Lincoln Lawyer, an adaptation of Michael Connelly's novel series of the same name.

According to Netflix, Season 4 of the series will be based on Connelly's The Law of Innocence, the sixth book in the series, and most of the actors are reprising their roles. Additionally, there is an exciting new cast addition as well. Cobie Smulders, who is known for her role on How I Met Your Mother, is joining The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 is officially returning with a stellar cliffhanger to guide it into the premiere episodes. One of the showrunners, Ted Humphrey, who directed the finale for Season 3 and is directing the first two episodes for Season 4, revealed that:

"This is going to be the biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on."

To make this ride even more exciting, it has been revealed that Cobie Smulders will be joining the cast for Season 4. Exact details regarding her character are being kept under wraps at the moment, but whatever it will be, it has to be great. Smulders is best known for her role in How I Met Your Mother as Robin Scherbatsky; however, her role as Maria Hall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe across various features might just be her most loved performance.

She was also seen on Apple TV's Shrinking, led by her How I Met Your Mother co-star Jason Segel. This is also not her first time working with Netflix, as she was recently a part of Netflix's Friends from College, as well as A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 is already rumored to be an extremely exciting project, according to comments from co-showrunner Ted Humphrey, so Cobie Smulders' addition to this cast list is only a cherry on top of the cake. Here's what Humphrey had to say about Mickey's future on The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4:

"All the advice he’s given clients over the years, now he has to give himself — and he realizes how hollow some of it sounds when you’re the one it’s bouncing off of. He’s got to deal with how this impacts not just him but also his family and loved ones, not to mention his business! But don’t worry — he’s going to have help from some of the people our audience loves the most, as well as some familiar faces who will be cropping up along the way — some helpfully… some perhaps not so helpfully, and a few new ones as well."

It appears as if The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 is going to be as exciting as ever, with Mickey having to face one of the most personal challenges of his career as a Los Angeles defense attorney.
