Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will soon be back as Mickey Haller, a criminal-defense lawyer who fights cases while working out of his Lincoln Navigator. It's a solid setup for this David E. Kelley series, which has since traced Haller's journey away from his addictions and towards success. However, by the end of its third season, things take a dark turn, leading to a cliffhanger.

Ted Humphrey, who has been one of the showrunners and executive producers for The Lincoln Lawyer, addressed how it would affect the show's fourth season during his recent conversation with Tudum. He began by saying,

“Well, the biggest cliff-hanger of all is ‘What is going to happen to Mickey?’ and that one certainly plays out across the whole season in the form of his trial. But in the first episode, you’ll understand at least the broad strokes of what specifically has happened and what charges — and adversaries — Mickey is facing."

He further added,

"This is going to be the biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on. And of course, our other characters will be dealing not only with Mickey’s case but with a slew of challenges they’re facing as well. As a director,"

Speaking about how it would impact the lawyer's life, Humphrey revealed how the latest case would be deeply personal to him.

“He’s got to deal with how this impacts not just him but also his family and loved ones, not to mention his business! But don’t worry — he’s going to have help from some of the people our audience loves the most, as well as some familiar faces who will be cropping up along the way — some helpfully… some perhaps not so helpfully, and a few new ones as well,” Humphrey said.

Apart from Garcia-Rulfo, the reprising cast includes Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, Elliott Gould, Jazz Raycole, and Krista Warner. The new cast additions include Cobie Smulders and Kyle Richards.
