The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power star reveals when the filming for new season finishes for his role

Peter Jackson directed the Lord of the Rings film trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkien's works. The three films of the franchise are: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002), and The Return of the King (2003).

The Lord of the Rings films follow Frodo Baggins, a hobbit, in his quest to destroy a magical ring and defeat the Dark Lord Sauron. The films were filmed in New Zealand and consisted of a huge cast and an amazing cinematography. The franchise was an enormous hit, grossing over $2.9 billion globally and winning 17 Academy Awards. The trilogy is regarded as one of the finest in film history.

Due to its success and massive popularity, a series called The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was developed. J.D Payne and Patrick McKay have created the series which premiered in September 2022 and till now has had 2 successful seasons. In February this year, a third season was confirmed by Amazon.

Elrond's actor Robert Aramayo has recently shared some information about the upcoming third season in an interview with Deadline. He has shared that he intends to wrap up season three of The Rings of Power by the end of 2025. Filming has been underway in the UK since May 2025, and the post-production may likely stretch the release date of the new season to 2026 or 2027.

By the end of 2025, the actor expects to have his sequences finished which has increased the anticipation among the fans because it is an important clue as to the upcoming season's launch date.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power's season 3's filming got underway in the middle of 2025. The filming is being done mostly in London. Aramayo stated that he would complete his scenes by the end of 2025. Although, it is unclear if the entire season's filming would be finished by then. Given that season two took about eight to nine months to film, this schedule is in line with previous seasons.
