The Mighty Nein Episode 4 starts with the group trapped in jail after the deadly chaos at Molly’s carnival. No one believes their story about a strange devil toad turning people into monsters.

The guards think the group caused the disaster. All of their gear is taken away. Each member gets questioned. Their answers do not help. In fact, they only make the guards even more suspicious.

Inside the cell, the group argues. Beau stops them and tells them to work together. Fjord secretly summons his sword. He disguises himself as a guard and tricks the real guard into opening the cell. The group escapes by breaking part of the wall. They run back to the ruined carnival to look for clues.

Far away, Essek is in danger in The Mighty Nein Episode 4. Trent Ikithon forces him to explain the Luxon Beacon. The Beacon can catch a soul when someone dies. It can send that soul into a newborn. The person later remembers their past life. Trent becomes obsessed with this power. He ignores every warning Essek gives him. He even uses the Beacon in risky, unsafe ways.
