The Morning Show Season 4 Episode 4: Yanko faces turmoil and Alex's family drama
The episode opens with Nestor Carbonell's Yankp preparing to propose to his new girlfriend, Ariana, on air. While Alex leaves a voicemail for Mia telling her that it is Yanko's big day and they would need her to fix things for him. Yanko's nerves spike when one of the segment's dove dies, and later a plane experiences an emergency mid-flight.
The newsroom scrambles without Mia Jordan, the former showrunner who had resigned. They inform him that he needs to postpone his proposal plans due to the unfortunate emergency. Yanko juggles disaster and romance, and he overhears conversations between Alex and Bradley. The mention of Claire complicates his plans further. Despite the chaos, Alex steps in to stabilize the broadcast while Bradley navigates the unfolding story. In the end, Yanko delays his proposal.
Alex Levy's challenges extend beyond the newsroom. Alex's father, Martin, blames her for spilling too much about him and his work during an interview. He lands in hot water over alleged plagiarism. The accusation? Martin plagiarized someone else's ideas in his debut book, which was published 30 years ago. Alex tries to help Martin manage the fallout.
The twist? Justice, a sharp young journalist, leverages the situation and demands insider access to UBN. She tells Alex to recruit her as a field producer or something relevant in UBN. However, Alex refuses to give in, as that goes against her work ethic. This subplot underscores the tension between personal loyalty and public scrutiny.
The Morning Show Season 4 Episode 4: Cory and Celine's power game
Marion Cotillard's Celine emerges as a strategic mastermind. She approaches Cory with an offer: secure her CEO chair at UBN, and she will grant him a blockbuster $200 million production deal. Cory faces a moral crossroads, and his ambition clashes with loyalty to Stella and professional ethics.
Celine bluntly asks Cory about the dirt on Stella that he was using to leverage his motives. Initially, Cory refuses to speak about it, but Celine manipulates him. Cory tells everything about Stella and Miles' affair to Celine. Although broken, Celine says:
"I'll get into your deal soon."
The Morning Show Season 4 Episode 4: Bradley hunts the Wolf River Story
Let's roll to the main plot of the season, Bradley and Chip's investigation into the Wolf River Story that could ruin UBN's reputation forever. When Bradley checks for the clues in the 2018 UBA archives, she finds that the Wolf River deposition files are missing and have been erased from the archives. Bradley tells Chip that they need to track down the lawyer who helped UBA authorities dig for details of the depositions.
Soon, Chip meets Bradley in her dressing room, and Bradley walks out mid-segment, leaving Yanko to cover up for her. Chip informs her about the lawyer who worked for UBA on the Wolf River story, and that in 2019, Eagle News ran a bunch of negative stories on him and exposed his firm. His name was Kenneth Stockton. However, he committed suicide, and after his death, the stories stopped. Bradley then tells Chip to find out the person who exposed Stockton's dealings to Eagle News.
Moreover, Alex finds Bradley and Chip in the dressing room, and she asks her what mission they are on. Chip narrates the entire UBA cover-up to Alex. Meanwhile, Bradley tries to talk to Ashley about the Eagle News-Kenneth Stockton, but she demands something in return. Bradley promises to send the file on Alex and the climate protesters, but asks Ashley to keep Alex out of the story.
Ashley sends her the file on Kenneth, and she discovers that it was Earl who provided information on Kenneth to Eagle News. Bradley finds his company's name, Perses Law Firm, all over the report. Turns out, Earl was Cory's fixer, so Cory was behind the smear campaign. Bradley finally uncovers the dark underbelly of UBN's past, tracing the cover-up to Cory Ellison.
