The gangster in Paramount's MobLand is not new, but the magnetic, power-driven cast and the unyielding twists and turns in it are a reinvention of the format, leading to an intense fan following and unprecedented success for the show.

Guy Ritchie tied off most of the storyline's loose ends by the final episode of the first season, but the viewership success led to a renewal for the British thriller. Paramount+ announced the Tom Hardy-starrer series' renewal for a second season a few weeks after the season finale aired.

According to a recent update, the massively popular Paramount+ drama has a brand-new release window. Keep reading to find out when the star-studded cast might grace our screens yet again on MobLand Season 2.

MobLand Season 1 premiered on Paramount+ in March 2025, and since then, it has been a massive hit with fans tuning in each week to witness the star-studded cast, including Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine. The show wrapped up the season finale by June, but fans had to wait for almost a month before Paramount+ announced a season renewal, despite it being the biggest series launch for the network.

While shows like MobLand usually take more than a year to go through the production and post-production processes before release, the first season of the warring crime family drama was unusually fast in its delivery process. After being announced in early 2024, it went through the entire process of production, post-production, and release in just 13 months. A similar turnover might be expected from the second season as well.

The fact that MobLand is unusually quick and effective with its turnover makes it even more exciting that Season 2 is set to begin production this year. A quick turnover might place the Season 2 release window in mid-2026.

Joanne Froggatt, who plays Jan, Hardy's character Harry's wife, recently sat down for a conversation with MovieWeb to promote her latest Downton Abbey film. In the midst of this conversation, she also revealed that the second season was set to begin shooting in October 2026:

"[We] Start shooting [Season 2] towards the end of October... So, a few weeks?I'm so looking forward to going back to film Season 2 of MobLand. I loved, loved, loved it. I mean, it was such a great script and such a great character. Just incredible cast. Yeah, I feel really, really blessed. I love playing Jan. I always wanted to play a gangsters wife or a gangster, and then she came my way."

Froggatt appears to be excited at the prospect of filming for MobLand Season 2, but this excitement falls short in comparison to the fans' excitement, who are waiting to dive deep into the new power dynamics as loyalties are tested in the second season.

The unprecedented success of the Paramount+ show makes it almost hard to believe that it started out as a Ray Donovan spin-off and instead turned into this global streaming hit.
