After the revival announcement, Hulu has now released an exclusive look at the rolling credits for the upcoming King of the Hill, Season 14. The revival is all set to release on August 4 with all 10 episodes that will stream on Hulu as well as Hulu on Disney+.
The exclusive credit sequence is reminiscent of the credits for the 1997 classic, which ran for 13 seasons. The credit sequence revealed some information about the Hill family in King of the Hill, so here's everything we know.
Hulu releases King of the Hill Season 14 credit sequence
The credit sequence for the revival season rolls reminiscent of the classic 1977 show, representing how time never stopped, even though the Hill family moved away. It might've taken their neighbours time to move on from the loss, but life goes on, and a new neighbour moves in.
The credit sequence revealed that the Hill family moved away from the Arlen, Texas neighbourhood for Hank's new job, which took them to Saudi Arabia. They stayed there for a very long time, as is revealed by the credit sequence through Hank's three Alamo drinking neighbours, who were left to deal with all the changes that come with time by themselves without Hank.
Now, along with King of the Hill, Hank is returning, and Bobby is all grown up and works as a chef at a fusion restaurant. The gang is all back together, but it is surely going to be difficult for Hank as the America he left is not the same one he's coming back to. The official description for the Hulu show reads as such:
"After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane."
It is also revealed through the credit sequence for King of the Hill how the group dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic (they're standing with beers in their hands but masks on their mouths, except Dale, of course) and that Dale Gribble had even run for Mayor in Hank's absence.
It appears the King of the Hill Season 14 will be tackling present-day topics. Back in the day, the classic was greatly praised for its smart and even-handed take on the contemporary topics in America, so the revival has great standards set for it. Creators of the show have revealed that they're trying to focus on putting Hank's outdated thoughts to the test in the contemporary cultural climate of America, but they're focusing on the character and the culture, and not the politics.
