The Night Agent isn't just returning with Season 3, the show is now also righting a wrong. After a wildly successful debut season, the follow-up left some fans scratching their heads. But there's good news on the horizon.

The upcoming third season is making changes — and the return of Chelsea Arrington is a major step in that direction. That's right, Fola Evans-Akingbola is stepping back into action as Chelsea, and this time she's not just passing through.
So, is The Night Agent finally ready to bring back what fans loved most? All signs point to yes — and it all starts with Fola's Chelsea.
Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington returns to The Night Agent
If you watched Season 1 of The Night Agent, you know Chelsea Arrington wasn't just another supporting character. She was the Secret Service agent tasked with guarding the Vice President's daughter, and in doing so became a fan favorite. However, when Season 2 rolled, her screen time was cut down heavily.
Fans noticed, and they weren't so excited about the development.

Thankfully, that's changing. Fola Evans-Akingbola is officially back for Season 3. Creator Shawn Ryan confirmed the fact in a Deadline interview, saying:
"We really love the character of Chelsea in Season 1." He added in the same interview: "I will tell you, she will be part of Season 3."
Her return isn't just a cameo this time. With Governor Richard Hagan now playing a major role and Chelsea working in his campaign security team, there is a clear path for her to be front and center again.
Ryan also opened up about why she was absent in Season 2. He shared:
“It really pained me to have to call her between Seasons 1 and 2, and say, hey, the writers had been working for a few weeks, and we’re gravitating towards stories that I don’t think we have a role for you in.” He added: “The story has just taken us here, and I’m so sorry, but we love you, and if there’s a chance to get you back on the show at some point, I would love to do it. She was wonderful about it.”
That opportunity came late in Season 2 and now, she is on her way for a comeback. For her fans, this isn't just a return but a reset fixing a mistake.
Fixing the flaws by going back to what worked
The second season of The Night Agent had all the action you would expect, but many viewers felt something was off. They missed the grounded dynamic that made Season 1 compelling. The plot leaned heavily, into the chaos around the Bala crime family and a terrorist threat in New York, but it lost the heart and character chemistry that once held it all together.
By sidelining key characters like Chelsea Arrington, the show drifted from what made it shine. Instead of building on what worked, many fans felt it started afresh. There was also this perception among many viewers that the main duo, Peter and Rose, didn't have the same spark, and new additions didn't quite land with audiences.
Now, Season 3 is shifting ideas. Instead of repeating the same errors again, it's stitching them back together.
Arrington's comeback hints at a more character driven story. With Peter Sutherland juggling conflicting loyalties and Chelsea potentially caught in the crossfire of White House politics, the setup for Season 3 sounds promising.
No more clean slates, and the show is reintroducing familiar faces and building continuity that fans can connect to. Arrington's return is about more than just a callback — it's strategy.
Season 3 of The Night Agent isn't just a continuation but seems like a correction. By bringing Chelsea Arrington back, the show seems to be acknowledging its missteps and getting back to the elements that built its success.
With Arrington back, The Night Agent Season 3 might just bring the pulse of the first season back, which is something fans have long been waiting for.
