The Night Manager season 2 is finally back after almost nine years, and Prime Video has released the first look images of several actors. The list of images confirms that Tom Hiddleston is returning as the ever-enigmatic Jonathan Pine. The list of images gives the fans a glimpse into what season 2 would be like and what to expect. It suggests that season 2 might be even more dangerous and morally twisted than before.
Tom Hiddleston is back as the ex-soldier turned spy, and now operating in a modern-day global espionage landscape. Pine is now older, a decade after the events we see in season 1, and is more guarded but still haunted by his past with Richard Roper. Read on to know more about what the first look of the show teased.
The Night Manager Season 2 first-look teases Tom Hiddleston’s return

The first image of Tom Hiddleston shows him in a sleek yet tense setting. He is in a dimly lit room, surrounded by exotic locales and shadowy encounters that hint at another undercover mission. Season 2 finds Pine infiltrating the empire of Colombian arms dealer Teddy Dos Santos. He is accompanied by Roxana Balanos, who eventually becomes his ally and moral counterpoint. The official logline of season 2 suggests Pine getting caught in a web of conspiracies. These secrets are meant to destabilize the nation and personally force Pine to question who he can trust.

Alongside Tom, Olivia Colman reprises her role as Angela Burr, the intelligence handler backing Pine. Indira Varma joins the cast in an undisclosed role, rumored to be tied to international intelligence operations.
Season 2 also has the same elegant cinematic look with some morally grey zones and lush global backdrops. Prime Video hasn't dropped any official premiere date yet, but the filming of the show wrapped earlier this year, and the network confirmed that The Night Manager will return for two new seasons.
The synopsis also suggests some international locations to be part of The Night Manager's new season, and this includes the UK, Spain, Colombia and France. Tom's character, Jonathan Pine, is now living as a low-level MI6 officer in London under the alias “Alex Goodwin”. The photos show him as more subdued and less glamorous compared to his style in season 1. In season 2, he is more in simple shirts, casual poses and surveillance-type environments.
What happened in season 1 of The Night Manager?

Pine, a former soldier, is working as a night manager under an intelligence operative, Angela Burr, to know the secrets of a ruthless arms dealer. Pine assumes a criminal identity to gain Roper's trust, and the mission unfolds in a manner that destroys his morality and identity.
He remains undercover for months and successfully embeds himself in Roper's operations and extracts proof of illegal arms and deals. In the finale episode, Pine frames Roper by convincing him to deliver weapons under false pretenses. This is how he gets captured by his own buyers. Pine also helps Jed to escape Roper's compound while Roper's criminal network collapses, with Burr now having some crucial evidence to keep him behind bars.
