The Office spin-off show has the complete endorsement of one of its original stars. John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert on the NBC sitcom, has given his views about the new show. Although this new show won't have the original cast, it will go on under the guidance of the original creator of the show, Greg Daniels.
As previously reported, Daniels is coming back to the franchise with a new idea and an entirely new cast. One of them is Domhnall Gleeson, who has been chosen to top the spin-off.
Krasinski recently interviewed with ScreenRant during the promotion of Fountain of Youth, a Guy Ritchie-directed film. While discussing, he spoke about his initial reaction to hearing the news about the spin-off and also recalled an incident about Gleeson asking for his advice. Krasinski explained,
"He [Domhnall] was so sweet. We were in Cairo when he told me about it, and he was adorably nervous to talk to me about it, and he was like, "I think I might do this thing. What do you think?"
"And it was a unanimous, "Yes."
Even if Krasinski is not set to appear in the spin-off, his endorsement of the show and its crew is evident. He called Daniels the mastermind behind the success of The Office and went on to say that anyone who worked with him could trust that everything was going well.
Greg Daniels' return marks trust from the original cast of The Office
The involvement of Greg Daniels has been a key reason for John Krasinski’s backing of the new spin-off. Daniels, who adapted The Office for American audiences and served as showrunner, is set to lead the upcoming series.

According to ScreenRant, Krasinski said,
“Because it's really one thing, which is Greg Daniels. If Greg Daniels is involved and he's excited, then get on board, because Greg is the heart and soul of that show. And we all follow Greg anywhere, and still would."
Krasinski also added that the trust in Daniels is mutual among the original cast of The Office. He explained that Daniels had previously worked with Steve Carell on a different series and divulged that Carell likewise received the news of the spin-off well.
"I remember he also had worked with Steve [Carrelli on the FX series, and so he wrote to Steve, and Steve said the same thing. We're all so excited for that show and to see what they're going to do with it," said Krasinski.
Although the new series will not feature the original Office cast, Daniels's ongoing presence seems to be a confidence booster for the team that made the original show a hit.
Krasinski will "Champion from the Side" as the new cast takes over
Although John Krasinski won't be appearing on-screen for the new Office series, he made sure to indicate that he will indeed be watching and rooting for the show. He reiterated his enthusiasm for the new cast and creative team.

"It sounds like they made it their own," he said.
Krasinski said that he is pleased to see new faces, such as Domhnall Gleeson, take center stage. According to ScreenRant, Gleeson met with Krasinski in person and got his approval. Krasinski assured he was more than supportive of Gleeson's inclusion in the series. Krasinski wrapped up his remarks by stating,
"And I will be championing from the side, for sure."
His comments indicate a desire to pass the torch and allow the new crew to create the next generation of The Office legacy while remaining attached to the franchise as a fan.
The new spin-off, with a new cast and creative team, will carry on The Office brand under the auspices of Greg Daniels, with support from original cast members such as Krasinski.
