The Office is one of those shows that just never gets boring, no matter how many times you rewatch it. The prank wars still crack us up even after years. And we’re still quoting Michael Scott’s “That’s what she said,” so The Office is still very much a favorite amongst fans.
And it’s not just the fans who keep the Dunder Mifflin spirit alive. Even Hollywood legends can’t help but be part of its legacy. One of them being none other than Breaking Bad’s Walter White, aka Bryan Cranston.
Before Breaking Bad, Cranston stepped behind the camera to direct The Office’s Season 9, Episode 4: “Work Bus.”
Now, speaking of The Office love, let’s talk about Office Ladies. This podcast is hosted by real-life besties Jenna Fischer (Pam) and Angela Kinsey (Angela). This show is for fans who miss the gang.
They get deep into each episode and spill behind-the-scenes tea. They also bring on the cast and crew to talk about what really went down at Dunder Mifflin. It’s the closest thing we’ve had to a reunion till now.
But like all of us, Bryan Cranston couldn’t help but wonder… what if The Office came back? A movie? A special?
Well, let's get a bit into it and see what we actually got instead.
The Office: Bryan Cranston posed the question
In one of the episodes of Office Ladies, Bryan Cranston dropped a question that we've been wondering for a long time.
"Let's say that there's not a reboot series, but what if there was a movie? Something to where we can see where these people are. These people in the entire cast that we're curious about. We wondered at the end, where did they go? What did become of them?"
Yes, Bryan. A thousand times, yes. Every fan of The Office has spent at least one late night wondering if Jim and Pam are still couple goals and if Dwight became the beet-farming Scranton overlord he was born to be. Or if Kelly and Ryan are still running from responsibility. That movie would be both nostalgia and closure.
Even Jenna Fischer, our beloved Pam Beesly who made us cry, laugh, and believe in slow burn love, totally supports the idea. When the topic of a possible return came up, she made one thing clear: she’s in, but only if Greg Daniels is at the helm.
"Because I would trust it. You know? As long as Greg is writing it and he's in charge of it, then I say yes."
So if a reunion ever does happen, we can expect to see Pam in it.
Now, we’re not exactly getting a movie or a reunion just yet but there is something going on in the Office-verse. Greg Daniels is working on a spin-off titled The Paper. It’ll follow a completely new paper company called Truth Teller and it’s expected to drop sometime this year.
So while it might not bring back the OG Dunder Mifflin crew, we’re crossing our fingers that The Paper brings even a sliver of that The Office magic back into our lives.
