"The one that you're most confident in": Culinary Class Wars reveals the theme for the Black Spoon Elimination round

Netflix's Culinary Class Wars premiered its second season on December 16, 2025. The first episode of the culinary competition revealed Black Spoon chefs, White Spoon chefs, and additional contestants.

Soon, the announcer revealed the first challenge. It was for the Black Spoon chefs. Those who were to impress the judges during the elimination round would advance further.

For that, the announcer shared:

"Now then, we will be revealing the theme for today's Black Spoon Elimination Round. For this challenge, we want you to showcase your best dish, the one that you're most confident in. The 80 Black Spoons will now be divided into two groups of 40, and the first group will begin cooking. You will each be given 100 minutes."

After introducing all 80 Black Spoon chefs and 18 White Spoon chefs, the show revealed the judges for the show. This included Paik Jong-won and Anh Sung-jae.

"Seeing them in person, you realise how striking they actually are," a participant shared.

Another chef noted that Paik Jong-won was passionate about making good food accessible. It was also something he was passionate about.

"He's got experience, lots of culinary knowledge. Yeah, and he's had a lot of experience in using different kinds of ingredients," someone else shared.

In his introduction, Culinary Class Wars judge Paik Jong-won shared that he was looking forward to finding some hidden gems among the cheftestants.

For the second judge, Anh Sung-jae, someone said that he was like a knife.

"He can be cut-throat because he has clear standards. He's just obsessed with cooking. That's what he's known for, even in the US," shared one of the Black Spoon chefs.

Anh Sung-jae noted that it was a new season. That meant new chefs, new food, and new challenges.

Soon, the announcer revealed the first Black Spoon Elimination round challenge. For that, the chefs were instructed to make the dish they were most confident in. They would be divided into two groups. The cooking time would be 100 minutes to prepare the dish.

Culinary Class Wars announcement continued:

"However, those of you who complete your dish before your time is up will get your dish evaluated first. The number of surviving Black Spoons must match the number of White Spoons. Once every seat at the table is filled, the Black Spoon survival match will end abruptly and immediately."

In the end, if there were any empty seats, chefs from the standby queue would be given another shot.
