Palm Royale Season 1 premiered on March 20, 2024, and took viewers back in time to the glitzy and glamorous world of the 1960s. The official synopsis of the show, as mentioned by Rotten Tomatoes, reads,
“In 1969, an ambitious woman aspires to cross the line between the haves and have-nots to secure her seat at America's most exclusive and treacherous table: Palm Beach high society.”
As Palm Royale Season 2 is set to premiere this November, now is a good time for a quick recap to jog the memory.
Maxine spilled the secrets in Palm Royale Season 1
Throughout the first season, Maxine did her best to secure her position at Palm Royale. However, she faced several obstacles, with Norma probably being the most determined to make things difficult for her. In the finale, during the beach party, Maxine once again tried to explain to Norma that she meant no harm and had always looked out for her. But Norma remained stubborn and continued to say harsh words to Maxine.
Maxine, on the other hand, was never one to give up, and she finally agreed to her husband Douglas’s plan to build a nightclub with Pinky. Despite trying everything to fit in with the elites, Maxine ultimately discovered that Douglas had gotten Mitzy pregnant, which was the final straw for her. As she took the stage at the beach party, Maxine began to speak about the town's secrets and shared her feelings about the people who lived there.
Maxine was straightforward when she said that the society of wealthy and elite people is based on opportunistic connections where everyone looks out for themselves and lacks genuine bonds of love. Her breakdown is one of the most pivotal moments of the show, as it reveals her true self and sets the stage for the next season, which will likely explore the aftermath of her words.
Mary tried to kill the President in Palm Royal Season 1
While Maxine was handling multiple things at the beach party, Mary pulled the trigger, aiming at the President, who was also at the event. However, the bullet hit Robert instead of the President, causing Robert to fall off the stage. Mary escaped, and it was Linda who was found with the gun used in the attempted shooting of the President.
The season finale did not clarify Robert's status or Linda’s fate regarding whether she was convicted for a crime she did not commit. These two points are important plot elements that are likely to be explored in the next season.
Palm Royale Season 2 can be streamed on Apple TV+.
