The Pitt Season 2 is all set to release soon, on January 8, and ahead of the release, director and executive producer John Wells has answered a frequently asked fan question. While Taylor Dearden has been winning hearts as Dr. Melissa "Mel" King, John Wells revealed that, much to fans' disappointment, her father on the show, Bryan Cranston, will not be appearing in The Pitt Season 2. Moreover, he even gave a very logical reason behind this decision.
The Pitt Season 2 will continue along the same theme as the first season, following the stories of the healthcare workers who work in the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre. While the show focuses on the professional difficulties these workers face, it also draws attention to the various curveballs they face in their personal lives.

As for Bryan Cranston not appearing on the show, John Wells revealed the rationale behind this decision, stating that he did not want the attention to draw away from the medical theme of the show, which would have been the case had Cranston joined the cast.
He said,
"It’s a temptation that we want to avoid. We don’t want to pull the attention away from the medicine and the wonderful actors that we have. And we have any number of really fantastic people who come in to guest star who have extraordinary careers, but they are working actors who are just fantastic actors, great with their craft."
Aside from Taylor Dearden, The Pitt Season 2 will also see several other prolific actors, including the likes of Noah Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Shawn Hatosy, Fiona Dourif, and many others.
Bryan Cranston shares best wishes for The Pitt Season 2 despite not appearing in the show
Although fans are slightly disappointed with the revelation that Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston will not appear in The Pitt Season 2, even for a cameo, Cranston only has the best wishes to share for the show ahead of its release.
In fact, in a previous interview with Associated Press, he spoke about how proud he was of his daughter, Taylor Dearden, for her portrayal of Dr. Melissa King in the show. Speaking about the same, he said,
"There’s nothing more gratifying than when your kid receives praise. Nothing. No one can say anything to me that’s better than that. So, her mom and I are just over the moon for her work on [The Pitt]. She’s a very hardworking person. She grew up in it. So it’s in her bones. She’s in it for the right reasons, and she loves it."
Season 1 of The Pitt is spread across 15 episodes and is available to stream on HBO Max. After its release, Season 2 will also be available to stream on the same platform.
