Dr. Robby's team remains mostly the same, with some new additions here and there. So, here's a look at The Pitt Season 2 and all of the new and returning cast members.
The Pitt Season 2 cast and character guide: Everything we know about the HBO drama
Breaking the long gap between consecutive seasons trend, The Pitt Season 2 is set to return for another harrowing shift for the doctors of the Emergency Room. The season is set to take place on the Fourth of July, one of the biggest and busiest days for hospitals all around the USA. Tensions are high in the hospital as well as among the doctors, owing to the state in which the first season left us off.
Returning cast members in The Pitt Season 2
The majority of doctors in The Pitt Season 1 are set to return for the second season of the HBO medical drama, including the leading man of the show and the emergency department, Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, played by Noah Wyle. Wyle will be joined by the charge nurse of the ER, Nurse Dana Evans, played by Katherine LaNasa. Evans had one of the toughest shifts in Season 1, and it was heavily implied that she was set to retire from the ER, but she's set to return.
Additionally, Patrick Ball returns as Dr. Frank Langdon, and his character is returning after being suspended for stealing drugs from the hospital to fuel his addiction. Third-year medical student Dr. Samira Mohan, played by Supriya Ganesh, returns along with the second-year resident Dr. Melissa "Mel" King, played by Taylor Dearden. Second-year resident and single mother Dr. Cassie McKay, played by Fiona Douriff, also joins the main cast.
The first-year resident, Dr. Trinity Santos (Isa Briones), and fourth-year medical student Dennis Whitaker (Gerran Howell) are set to join Shabana Azeez as the third-year medical student, Victoria Javadi.
The only main cast member who won't be returning for the second season is Dr. Heather Collins, played by Tracy Ifeachor. Dr. Collins suffered a miscarriage during her shift in Season 1 and was advised to leave and turn her phone off for the rest of the shift by Dr. Robby.
New cast members joining The Pitt Season 2

The Pitt Season 2 is also set to find many new faces, with some joining as a part of the main cast and others appearing in guest roles. The biggest addition is Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, an attending physician set to take over for Dr. Robby as he goes off on his sabbatical. Dr. Hashimi has previously worked with both Dr. Melissa "Mel" King and Dr. Samira Mohan.
Among the other characters joining The Pitt Season 2 are Zack Morris, Brittany Allen, and Travis Van Winkle as patients in the Emergency Department. Additionally, Bonita Friedericy and Taylor Handley play relatives or visitors of the patients. Additionally, Jeff Kober joins as a friend of the doctors and a motorcycle engineer.
Finally, the hospital and the Emergency Department have some new additions as well, with Luke Tennie joining as a fourth-year night shift resident, Meta Golding as nurse Noelle Hastings, and Christopher Thornton as Dr. Caleb Jefferson, an attending psychiatric doctor.
These were some of the main cast and recurring characters who will be seen in The Pitt Season 2, set to premiere on January 8, 2026.
