What happened in Episode 9 of The Rainmaker?

In Episode 9 of The Rainmaker, Dot's case finally reached the court but had to go through several setbacks. It began with Jackie's testimony and the stolen evidence, which initially was deemed to be inadmissible, making them take a step back from proving the murder of Donny Ray and several others.

They later decided to contact the families of the people who died at the hands of Melvin Pritcher, but were beaten by Sarah to it as she had already bought their silence. This prompted Rudy to finally take advice from Bruiser, who told him to prove the Narpense machine.

With Jackie taking the stand again, they successfully proved that the machine does not have an autodelete function. Therefore, the hospital has destroyed the evidence itself, resulting in the getting to submit Jackie's USB as evidence in the case. However, as Sarah began to cross-examine the woman, the case again seemed like it was slipping from their grip. She pointed fingers at Jackie's character and personal life to prove that the woman was mentally unstable.

This move showed Sarah's complete descent into the evil side, like the firm she works in. While Brad tried to question their approach in the case, Leo shut him down by reminding him how tied to the cause he himself was by being the dirty hands that did Leo's bidding.

Furthermore, Bruiser gets her closure as she learns that her father did not kill Rosalie, and before fleeing with Prince, they left Melvin Pritcher in Prince's basement. The shocking twist at the end might help Rudy and the team finally bring justice to the case and put the serial killer behind bars for good.
