The Rainmaker Episode 2 recap: Deck and Rudy follow a lead and Ethan gets abducted

The Rainmaker, based on John Grisham’s novel by the same name, premiered on August 15, 2025 and the official synopsis of the show, as mentioned by Rotten Tomatoes, reads,

“Young attorney Rudy Baylor, alongside Bruiser Stone and Deck Shifflet, battles a powerful law firm led by Leo F. Drummond and his girlfriend, Sarah Plankmore, unearthing a dark conspiracy that shows how far his opponents are willing to go to win.”

The Rainmaker Episode 2 aired on August 22, 2025 and the story is already getting more complicated and it is clear that no one in this legal drama is going to have their hands clean. Let us now take a deeper look into the events of episode 2.

Deck and Rudy get after Pritcher in The Rainmaker Episode 2

As Pritcher’s mother was killed in a fire, in The Rainmaker Episode 2, he promises to himself to find out who was behind the incident that led to this tragedy. After he visits his mother’s grave, he goes to Perry’s Fish Shack as he is meeting his pre-trail officer there.

It is then revealed that Deck and Rudy are also there and they are keeping a close eye on Pritcher. While Pritcher tells the officer that he is staying at the Barrow Motel, the duo discover that he lied and was actually staying in The Wambaw.

Coming back to their office, Rudy and Deck inform the same to Bruiser who tells them that they should first go after Jackie Lemancyzk, the nurse who got fired. However, Rudy and Deck make a call of their own and visit Pritcher’s hotel.

When they arrive, Pritcher does not seem to be in his room, which appeared to be locked and after a moment’s hesitation, Deck breaks in and Rudy follows. As they skim through his room, Pritcher comes in and realizing that the duo is inside and he manages to escape on a truck.

Pritcher abducts Ethan in The Rainmaker Season 2

After Pritcher escapes Rudy and Deck, he realizes someone is following him. It’s actually two people, the one who was outside the courthouse along with her partner. Pritcher however, manages to reach the male partner, Ethan, despite the woman’s attempts to alert him.

After reaching the car where Ethan was waiting for the woman, Pritcher stabs him with a needle that renders him unconscious. When he eventually wakes up, Ethan finds himself tied up in the woods. He immediately lets Jane know about his location and that is when Pritcher comes out and starts talking to him.

Pritcher asks Ethan multiple questions along with demanding to know his client’s name for whom he was following him. However, Ethan does not delve much and mainly puts all the blame on Rudy and Deck. Pritcher then takes his gun out and asks again but when Ethan continues to mention that he actually does not know anything, he shoots him in his leg.
