The Rookie Season 8 Episode 1 cast: Meet the stars who brought ABC's drama to life

The Rookie Season 8 Episode 1 titled 'Czech-Mate' aired on ABC on January 6. Nathan Fillion as John Nolan: The Firefly actor leads The Rookie Season 8 cast in the premiere episode. Fillion, who debuted as the oldest rookie in the LAPD in Season 1, climbed the social ladder in the Mid-Wilshire division. The Season 8 premiere saw him on an International mission in Prague with his wife Bailey and Nyla.

Melissa O'Neil as Lucy Chen: O'Neil's ambitious and charming rookie-turned-Sergeant Lucy Chen also returned in the premiere of the eighth season. Lucy was still working on the night shift which created a communication gap in her relationship with Tim.

Eric Winter as Tim Bradford: The other half of the Chenford ship, Winter's Tim is another returning member on The Rookie Season 8 cast. The premiere episode was exciting for Tim Bradford, as he asked Lucy to move in with him, a proposal she accepted.

Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper: The sharpest member of the LAPD, Nyla, was paired up with Nolan and Bailey on an International mission in Prague. While Nolan tracked Monica, Nyla ambushed the mafia arms dealer in The Rookie Season 8 Episode 1, putting a satisfying end to their mission.

Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez: The newly promoted detective, Angela, was another returning cast member in the eighth season. Diaz's character pulled off double duty in the premiere. She not only reunited Tim and Lucy but also helped the team in tracking down Wegnar's port in LA.

Richard T. Jones as Lt. Wade Grey: The Rookie Season 8 'Czech-Mate' also saw the return of the no-nonsense Lieutenant Wade Grey, who successfully led his team and uncovered the secret hideout of the arms dealer.
