The Rookie is known for throwing curveballs around, and season 7's biggest one comes in the form of Liam Glasser. At first glance, he's a family man, but under the surface of the lies that he has built, there is a serial killer.

Fans soon saw him turn from an ordinary guy into one of the show's scariest and unhinged bad guys. By Episode 8, Glasser is finally caught, but his story doesn't end as neatly as it looks.

Liam Glasser’s disturbing double life comes to light in The Rookie

Liam Glasser being on The Rookie is unforgettable. He is first seen during what seems to be an everyday encounter with Nyla Harper, only for the tables to turn when she realizes that he's the serial killer LAPD has been hunting.

From there on, Glasser's calmness on the outside begins to reveal a chillingly meticulous side that hadn't been seen. Harper's instincts prove correct, but the road to taking him down and arresting him isn't as easy as it looks.

In one scene, Glasser goes unhinged and kidnaps Harper herself, only for her to fight back and make it clear that the LAPD is all around him. That cat-and-mouse game with the LAPD is what defines his arc and storyline. Things escalate even more when Los Angeles faces wildfires, and Glasser seizes the chaos as cover to grab another victim.

It's here that his family learns the awful truth, breaking away the image of a regular husband and a dad. Nolan, Harper, Lopez, and rookie Miles Penn step in during a nervous cabin confrontation, managing to save the victim, and they're finally able to put Glasser behind bars.

But what makes Glasser stand out isn't just his crimes, but it's how he leads a normal life while hiding the biggest secret. This gives his character an extra layer of creepiness, and it's exactly why viewers can't shake him off even after his arrest.

Why Glasser’s story may not be finished yet

Ending Glasser's arc in just a few episodes feels almost too clean for The Rookie. This series has a history of keeping its villains around, even when they're behind bars.

Rosalind Dyer proved that prison walls don't silence a truly dangerous adversary, and Oscar Hutchinson has managed to stir up chaos season after season despite constant arrests, and Glasser fits perfectly into that mold.

What makes him so compelling is his ongoing tension with Harper. She has been fixated on catching him, sometimes to the point of burning herself out. Their last face-off leaves behind unfinished business, and the look Glasser gives her as he's hauled away feels more like a warning than closure.

Add in the fact that trials, accomplices, or even copycats are all possibilities within The Rookie's world, and it's hard to imagine his arc being over for good.

Seth Gabel's performance also demands more screen time. He's carved out a villain who is both unsettling and strangely calculated, the type of bad guy who lingers in the back of your mind.

If the show is smart, it won't waste that. Instead, Glasser could continue haunting the Mid-Wilshire team, reminding them and fans that evil doesn't just vanish when the cuffs go on.

The Rookie might have placed Liam Glasser behind bars for now, but villains like him rarely stay silent. His twisted presence has added tension and urgency to Season 7, and his unresolved connection with Nyla Harper keeps the door for his return wide open.

Whether through legal drama, accomplices, or a return in some unexpected way, Glasser feels like a story not quite finished-and fans know The Rookie never leaves a thread hanging for long.
