The Simpsons is set to start Season 37 with a bang, and fans take notice. The iconic animated series is bringing in one of its most star-packed lineups in the upcoming season, and there's no shortage of familiar faces heading to Springfield. Per IMDb, Season 37 drops its first episode on September 28, 2025.
So what's the noise? Kieran Culkin, Idris Elba, Michael Keaton, Glenn Howerton, Albert Brooks, Danny Pudi, and Viola Davis are all in line cameos this season, per Variety. And that's barely the tip of the iceberg.
During its panel at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2025, the team behind The Simpsons revealed a surprise list of guests that has left fans talking and guessing.
Here is the full breakdown on who is set to appear and when, and why this season might just become a classic.
A starry Springfield: The Simpsons levels up its guest game
If there is one thing The Simpsons has always done well, it is blending pop culture with satire. In Season 37, however, they are dialing it all the way up. In a never before seen move, the show is stacking a single episode with not one, not two, but seven celebrity guest stars.
Glenn Howerton, Adam Pally, Albert Brooks, Cole Escola, Danny Pudi, Domhnall and Brendan Gleeson appear in a single jam-packed story.
During the Comic-Con 2025 panel, executive producer Matt Selman teased that this moment would be one for the books, though he didn't let slip what brings all these stars to Springfield.
The Simpsons is also giving actor Kieran Culkin his moment to shine, with Selman vouching on a "juicy role." Whether he plays himself or an original character, Culkin has already stirred up curiosity among fans. Given how the show loves tying its guest stars into unpredictable and unhinged storylines, expectations are sky high.
This season is clearly taking its cameos seriously, pushing boundaries in number and range. And that's not just fan service — it's intentional showmanship. Springfield may have always welcomed visitors, but Season 37 seems determined to turn those visits into headline-worthy events.
Special episodes, surprise guests, and a big 800th celebration
Beyond the already star-studded guess cast, The Simpsons is also getting spooky with its Halloween tradition. This year's "Treehouse of Horror" with pokes towards IT promises extra thrills, featuring guest spots from Michael Keaton, Idis Elba, and Viola Davis.
Season 37 also brings a major milestone with its 800th episode, set to air in February 2026.
Creator Matt Groening joked at the Comic-Con panel,
"I honestly thought 36 was where we were going to end it..."
He added;
"No, there's no end in sight."
Matt Selman confirmed that the 800th celebration will include two original episodes, though plot details remain tightly under wraps. Selman added:
"They're top secret for now, but I promise you, they'll be the best 800th episode of anything you've ever seen..."
Meanwhile, the creators took time to squash a few rumors especially surrounding the so called "death" of Marge. Selman addressed it directly, reminding everyone that "there is no canon" in The Simpsons world. Marge isn't going anywhere, and headlines suggesting otherwise? Just "trick bait," as Selman put it.
With The Simpsons Season 37 packing in major names, a landmark 800th episode, and some sharp commentary to boot, the upcoming season promises to be more than just another notch in the show's legendary run.
From Kieran Culkin's mysterious role to a Halloween episode filled with A-listers, Springfield is clearly ready to surprise again.
