While Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is still approximately six months away, the promotional campaign for the series is slowly ramping up. This time, instead of the main trio, it is actor Glynn Turman who has interesting teases to offer to the fans of Percy Jackson. This new interview took place at the red carpet premiere of Turman's new movie, Straw.
Glynn Turman was interviewed by Screen Rant's Liam Crowley, in which the latter asked the actor about Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. The reporter asked:
"The dynamic with Tantalus in season 2, Timothy Simons is joining the cast, can you tease at all how the power dynamic at Camp Half-Blood is going to be shaken up a little bit?"
To this question, the actor responded:
"It’s going to be shaken up in a good way. You have to remember the stakes are even higher now. Everybody is trying to form different alliances, even Chiron gets in a little trouble here and there. You’ll see that in season 2. It’s quite a dynamic."
What do Glynn Turman's comments mean for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2?
Well, it means that Glynn Turman's Chiron will have very little role to play in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. That's because the Camp counselor is fired and replaced with Tantalus (Timothy Simons). If the name sounds familiar, the Tantalus here is none other than King Tantalus of the Greek Legends, who is cursed with eternal hunger and thirst.
In The Sea of Monsters, which Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is adapting, Thalia's tree is poisoned. The tree is named so because nestled inside the tree are the remains of Zeus' half-blood daughter Thalia, who died protecting Annabeth, Luke, and Grover. As she breathed her last, Thalia was turned into a tree, and it has magically shielded Camp Half-Blood from monsters since then.
However, at the beginning of the Sea of Monsters and also Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, the tree is mysteriously poisoned, and Chiron is fired for that under suspicion. Thus, Turman's role in this season will be very limited.
What will season 2 be about?
As mentioned above, the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is adapting the second book of the series, The Sea of Monsters. Grover is missing, and Camp Half-Blood is repeatedly attacked by monsters because Thalia's tree is poisoned. Making things even more awkward is that Tyson, one of his friends in the mortal world, is more connected to his status as a half-blood than he previously expected.
The synopsis for the book reads:
"When Thalia’s tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magic item powerful to save the camp before it is overrun by monsters. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover, and he learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse."
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is releasing this December. But the release date hasn't been declared yet.
