The Studio, created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez, earned twenty-three Emmy Nominations in its first season. Rogen also stars as the protagonist, Matt Remick, who is the new head of Continental Studios and is struggling with maintaining the corporate goals of the studio along with his wish to produce quality films.

The show has been renewed for a second season, and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about how the Emmy Nominations are a huge help for The Studio season two.

How Emmy Nominations help The Studio season two

The Studio has bagged twenty-three Emmy Nominations, out of which five nominations were for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series (Bryan Cranston, Martin Scorsese, Dave Franco, Ron Howard, and Anthony Mackie) and one for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series (Zoë Kravitz). There were two nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series (Seth Rogen and Ike Barinholtz) and two for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series (Katheryn Hahn and Catherine O'Hara).

While the crew was nominated as well, ten actors being nominated is no small feat. It highlighted that while all these actors have their own capabilities, being a part of The Studio was surely beneficial for them.

When The Hollywood Reporter asked what the biggest benefit of the success The Studio has had for season two was, Goldberg said,

"One of the hardest things to do was getting all these people to be in the show. Now people will want to be in the show rather than us trying to convince people that it will be good. That’s a huge relief, and those elements will be easier to achieve now that we know what we’re doing and we’re bringing together almost entirely the same crew."

Starting a show and getting the casting right is extremely difficult. Moreover, convincing stars like Martin Scorsese, Catherine O'Hara, Anthony Mackie, and Dave Franco to be a part of the show must have been an extremely difficult task. Now, as the creators gear up for season two, that task seems to have become much easier, and they don't need to do much convincing this time.

Seth Rogen, when asked by The Hollywood Reporter if they are already getting calls regarding guest stars, said,

"Much more than the first season. Again, wrangling people and convincing them to join the show was one of the hardest parts of the first season. We worked hard to let them know that we weren’t going to make them look bad or that it would be a waste of their time. Mostly what my brain does now is that I look at these Emmy nominations as something that will make it easier to book guest stars next season. Like, “Great, this could make my life much easier.”"

The Emmy Nominations are thus a great boost for the show, as one would expect. We will hopefully see more guest stars in season two, who will surprise viewers with their performance, like the guest stars in season one did.

The Studio is streaming on Apple TV+.
