The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 might have taken over the internet with the Team Jeremiah vs. Team Conrad debate, but there is also a considerable portion of the fanbase that is "anti-Belly." It might have to do with her inability to choose between her indecisive and sometimes inconsiderate nature.

Throughout the two seasons and the episodes of Season 3 that have been aired so far, the criticism towards Belly has only increased, especially among fans who are unable to digest the fact that she's struggling to find love between two brothers, whose relationship seems to deteriorate with every season, owing to the triangle.

Nevertheless, after The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 7, the show might be headed towards Belly's redemption era, and her defense is at an all-time high.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is heading towards the Belly redemption arc

Ever since Belly said yes to Jeremiah's proposal, after the truth about Cabo and Lacie Barone came out, fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty, especially Team Conrad, have had a hard time justifying Belly's actions or being sympathetic towards them.

However, the last few episodes have been slowly inching towards a "Belly redemption arc," making the audience much more sympathetic towards her actions.

In the last few episodes, Belly has been forced to go through all of the wedding preparations by herself, while Jeremiah was in New York on his internship. Additionally, she has been struggling with moments of proximity to Conrad.

Adam Fisher taking over Jeremiah and Belly's wedding preparations, handing it over to his assistant, and moving it from the summer house to the country club also contributed to her identity crisis in The Summer I Turned Pretty. All of the pressure and the confusion caused by the wedding preparation, nervousness, and the moments of realizations around Conrad have placed her in an emotional dynamic where she doesn't know how or what to feel anymore.

Conrad confessing his love the night before her wedding festivities were set to begin threw her world for a loop. However brutal, her reaction to Conrad's confession feels like she's trying to give him a clean break, to break his heart so far that he's forced to let go of her.

The beach scene was extremely emotional, partly because Conrad opened his heart up, but also because all the walls that Belly had been putting up around her heart to stop thinking about Conrad came crashing down.

That brutality and vulnerability, more than anything, and watching her break down afterwards, have made fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty much more sympathetic to everything that she's been going through.

Additionally, in the aftermath of the beach scene where she finds herself alone and secluded from Jeremiah, as well, who doesn't answer her knock, it appears as if her entire world has come crashing down, and all she's left with is her broken heart and her commitment to Jeremiah.

At the end of the day, it appears, mothers do know best, and Laurel knew that Belly needed to go to Paris and open herself up to the world to find herself. The remaining few episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty will hopefully help Belly do exactly that.
