If you were hoping to see Christopher Briney on your screens again, HBO Max has the best news for you. Christopher Briney has been cast in Hacks Season 5, as posted by HBO Max on Instagram.
Briney has been widely popular for playing Conrad Fisher in the Prime Video show, The Summer I Turned Pretty, for three seasons. The final season concluded on September 17, 2025, and Christopher Briney is soon returning to our screens in Hacks Season 5, which is presently getting filmed.
The Summer I Turned Pretty star Christopher Briney will star in Hacks Season 5
Created by Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky (who are also showrunners), Hacks is a comedy-drama that follows Deborah, a stand-up comedian who has been performing for a long time, and Ava, a comedy writer. Deborah needs to reinvent her career, while Ava needs to save hers after tweeting something insensitive. The show portrays how they help each other through their individual skills. Hacks has been widely popular for its four seasons, and its cast members have recently won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Jean Smart) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Hannah Einbinder) at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.
Christopher Briney has joined the cast of Hacks Season 5. In the picture posted by HBO Max, Briney appears to be walking with Jean Smart's Deborah Vance as both share a smile. It is yet to be known which character Briney is playing, but he is most likely filming his scenes for the upcoming season since both he and Smart seem in character.
Briney has also starred as James Linton in Dalíland (2022) and Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls (2024). Christopher Briney was last seen as Conrad Fisher in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3. After three seasons of storytelling, Belly and Conrad ended up together, as shown in the show's finale. Christopher Briney will also reprise his role as Conrad Fisher in the sequel film to The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The returning cast for Season 5 includes Jean Smart as Deborah Vance, Hannah Einbinder as Ava Daniels, Paul W. Downs as Jimmy LuSaque Jr, Megan Stalter as Kayla Schaefer, Carl Clemons-Hopkins as Marcus Vaughan, Mark Indelicato as Damien Asada Agosto, and Rose Abdoo as Josefina. The show is executive-produced by Statsky, Downs, Aniello, Michael Schur, David Miner, and Morgan Sackett. Melanie J. Elin, Seth Edelstein, Ashley Glazier, Samantha Riley, and Nate Young are producers on the show. The production companies behind the show are First Thought Productions, Paulilu Productions, Fremulon, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Universal Television.
Hacks Season 4 ended with Deborah Vance facing turmoil in her career and reputation after leaving her late-night show and being declared dead by TMZ when she was very much alive. Despite being bound by a non-compete clause, she is inspired to defy the network and plan a comeback with Ava’s support, returning to the U.S. ready to reclaim her legacy.
The first four seasons of Hacks are streaming on HBO Max, and all seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty are streaming on Prime Video.
