The Survivors is an upcoming Australian drama series based on a 2020 best-selling novel by Jane Harper. It is set in Tasmania, a coastal town in Evelyn Bay, and the story revolves around Kieran Elliott, who returns home 15 years after a devastating storm claimed the lives of three people close to him. Among these is a young girl who went missing. On her return, she encounters another tragedy when a young woman's body is discovered at the seaside. On investigation, this case finds its roots in another case that happened years ago, compelling the community to confront its unresolved grief and some deep-buried secrets.

“I often describe the show as a Trojan horse,” showrunner Tony Ayres says. “It’s a family melodrama disguised as a murder mystery. Because the things that are really at its heart are things like a son wanting his mother’s love and the mother who just cannot afford to give it because her whole world might fall apart.”
