What happened in The Tech Bro Murders Episode 1?
The previous episode of the docuseries revolved around Francis Wolke, a 30-year-old computer programmer who left Cincinnati for Silicon Valley with dreams of making it big in the tech world. However, instead of fulfilling his dreams, he spiraled into delusions that led to one of the Bay Area’s most shocking crimes.
On December 12, 2018, police discovered Wolke inside the Menlo Park home of 62-year-old Kathleen “Kathy” Hughes Anderson. She was found murdered in her basement and was nearly decapitated with a pen driven into her eye.
Wolke was covered in blood at the scene. He confessed to the murder but later told investigators that he believed killing and consuming human flesh would allow him to join the “1%” wealthy club and stay young forever.
The murder came to light when Anderson’s friend Daniel Baggett decided to check on her when she did not respond to calls. He entered the home, confronted Wolke, and held him at knifepoint until police arrived. The episode chronicled Wolke’s troubled journey from an ambitious man to a ruthless killer.
