The show, which challenges couples to either get married or break up after dating other people for three weeks, ended its third season with only one couple still together. However, it was J.R.'s shocking confession that stole the spotlight when previously unseen footage showed him telling Micah,
"I'm trying to be on that vibe for three weeks. I got a hall pass."
The statement left fellow contestants visibly shocked, particularly Sandy, who had formed a connection with J.R. during the experiment. This revelation sparked a firestorm of reactions from fans who had suspected J.R.'s motives weren't entirely pure.
Fans take to social media to comment on The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On’s J.R’s behavior throughout the season
The internet did what it does best - turned the drama into comedy gold. As the reunion aired, social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), lit up with viewers sharing their unfiltered thoughts about J.R.'s "hall pass" confession.
“I’m watching the ultimatum reunion and JR really keeps trying to gaslight everyone into believing he wasn’t there for a hall pass… after he literally said he was there for a hall pass. #TheUltimatums3”
“Thank God JR did not propose to Zaina on the ultimatum because it was obvious that if Sandy wanted to leave with JR, he would have been on the next flight home with her…” A fan commented.
“Sandy shutting down JR right before the Ultimatum decision is making me cackle SORRY #TheUltimatum” a tweet read.
“J.R. is so weird like this unseen footage of him is crazy. Like those questions & comments were so inappropriate, he was NEVER into Zaina & just kept her around because she was available, a good gf, etc omgggg how disgusting” another tweet read.
What happened during the reunion episode?
The reunion, hosted by Nick Lachey, didn't hold back in exposing J.R.'s behavior throughout the season. Footage revealed him telling Sandy he was "attracted" to different people and open to "dibble and dabble" in other relationships.
In another clip, he was caught telling Aria there were "no cameras" in the room and they "gotta experience" what marriage would be like.
Introduced as the "Fitness King and Toxic Positivity Queen," J.R. and his ex Zaina sat on opposite ends of the room. Zaina set the tone early, declaring,
"I was fed nothing but lies from the man who claimed to love me so deeply for three years."
She came prepared with receipts - quite literally - stored on a chip in her nail, proving J.R.'s contradictory statements about the "hall pass" controversy.
The reunion also revealed other questionable comments from J.R., including "I'm not seeking s*x out of this experience, but I do like challenges" and "I like a good bl*w j*b with the vibr*tor." While J.R. claimed to be open to reconciliation, Zaina has moved forward, celebrating her 33rd birthday by freezing her eggs and refusing to use "yesterday's pain as today's perspective."
