The AMC network series, titled Interview With the Vampire, has officially undergone a name change for its third season, titled The Vampire Lestat, as the season is set to shift its perspective to Lestat, unlike the first two seasons. The name change is also symbolic of Anne Rice's second book in the series, which is titled the same and is the major inspiration for this season.
In a recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Rolin Jones talked about how this season is different from the ones that have come before. Sam Reid's Lestat de Lioncourt might be the lead this season, but that doesn't mean fans are going to see any less of Louis. Without giving away any specifics, Jones revealed some of what fans could expect from Jacob Anderson's Louis in The Vampire Lestat.

The Vampire Lestat showrunner teases a heartbreaking future for a fan-favorite character
Interview with a Vampire might have been renamed to The Vampire Lestat for its third season, but it doesn't mean that Anderson's Louis won't be a part of the season. In a recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Jones revealed some first-look pictures of the third season while revealing some of the more exciting things that can be expected.
Since the show was renamed to The Vampire Lestat for the third season, fans were worried that Anderson's Louis wasn't going to be seen as much, but Jones all but confirms that this is not the case, and the third season has a lot in store for Louis.
One of the first-look images finds Jacob Anderson's Louis completely covered in blood, and when asked about the same, showrunner Jones refused to divulge any specifics about the same.
"What I can say is it was very clear we had a very, very beautiful actor in that role and that the source material that we were working from, The Vampire Lestat novel, doesn't have a lot for him. So we dipped into other things that Anne wrote about Louis that's woven into the story we've told already, who we think he is, where he was at, and his relationship with the main character. Whatever he's telling you, it's important to Lestat."

However, she did reveal that they wanted Anderson to have more to work off of in the third season than Rice's original material, so they'd dipped into the other books and created a story that was "divine" and "very, very heartbreaking":
"We wanted to provide a really good arc for him, so there's stuff there. I wish I could tell you about it but literally if I give you two or three details, the dominoes begin to fall. I'll tell you this, out of all the stories that we're throwing up this year, it's the one that's working the best and quickest, and it is crystal clear and it's really divine and very, very heartbreaking."
Jones' statements make it clear that The Vampire Lestat is set to be a thrilling yet deeply emotional ride for fans of the show.
