More details were revealed via NBC's official site on July 22, 2025. It started with the upcoming season's official title, which was The Voice: Battle of Champions.
The 29th season of the reality show will introduce some new changes, including a "three-coach showdown." NBC referred to the return of iconic artists from past seasons as "hyper-charged" competition.
The potential release date for The Voice Season 29 is spring of 2026. However, NBC has not yet revealed any particular date for the same. With Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine, fans will witness epic judging and coach showdowns in the competition.
The Voice: Battle of Champions: Format changes for season 29
One of the changes will be the "Triple Turn Competition." It refers to the Blind Auditions, where Coaches will try to have the "most 3-chair" turn. Whoever does that will be given a special advantage later on in the Battles.
Then there's "Super Steal." For that, the coach who has the most 3-chair turns following the auditions will be rewarded with a Super Steal during the Battles. Things will get even more interesting with this format change. How? Because if another judge had already stolen an artist, the judge with Super Steal will be able to steal that artist back.
The next format change is "In-Season-All-Star Competition":
"During Knockouts, each Coach will bring back two Artists from their former teams to compete in the In-Season All-Star Competition. The selected veteran Artists will compete in head-to-head sing-offs. The Coach with the most sing-off wins is guaranteed a second Season 29 Artist in the Finale," shared NBC.
There is a format change in voting for the semi-finale and finale. According to that, there will be super fans and artists from the show's past seasons. They will be given a chance to "live vote" for their favorite artists.
Additionally, fans will see CeeLo Green returning to the show for the Knockouts. CeeLo will judge the In-Season All-Star Competition.
