AMC's The Walking Dead: Dead City has unleashed its latest villain, who might be TWD's most unhinged antagonist yet, even outshining Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan.

In addition to the walkers, villains like Negan were the most interesting characters in The Walking Dead, whose means of survival was sheer brutality. While Negan is now on a path to redemption, he has committed some truly horrific acts (killing Glenn) in the parent series.

While we still miss the old Negan and his dark humour, which also made the show enjoyable, a new villain is in town. The Walking Dead: Dead City introduced Bruegal (Kim Coates), the leader of the survivors on Manhattan Island in New York City.

Right from his sophisticated clothing (complete with a tie) and neatly combed hair, Bruegal doesn't feel like a character in a post-apocalyptic world. Right from his introduction, he commands the room and the scene, easily outshining Negan.

More on Bruegal in The Walking Dead: Dead City in our story.

Kim Coates' Bruegel has all the makings of a memorable villain in The Walking Dead: Dead City

Dead City unleashed its latest villain in Kim Coates' Bruegal, who has all the makings of becoming the next big villain, even outshining Negan with his sadistic and antagonist approach.

While Negan is now starring in his spin-off series, it is hard to forget his villainous attitude in TWD. His bat-yeilding and leather jacket ensemble was enough to give anyone nightmares, and Bruegal (more like brutal) might just overthrow him and win the title for the best villain in the franchise.

Just like Morgan, Coates also fits the part to become the next best villain of The Walking Dead: Dead City. While Negan was savage, brutal, and would do anything to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, Bruegal is his greedy and modernised counterpart, who chooses to stay evil.

Teasing Coates' villain, executive producer Scott M. Gimple, told ScreenRant:

"Bruegel is a wheeler-dealer. He is both incredibly modern and of the moment, and yet you could see him in an old Western being the guy who is trying to blow up the town so that he can run his railroad through it. He is a fusion of a brutal king and a jester, and Kim Coates is just brilliant."

Is Dead City gearing up for a battle between the villains?

Coates' villain is not only sophisticated and often lives like a King in his world, but he also thinks that the world is available at his expense. In The Walking Dead: Dead City Episode 4, he invites the Dama to watch his walker fight in person.

It is only after the fight that we learn his 'walker' isn't a walker, but his mentally deranged former bodyguard Tony, whom he uses to win fights as a walker.

After Negan learns his secret, he casually slits Tony's throat, thinking he has no use for him now. His unflinching attitude towards others makes him a more terrifying villain, even shaming Negan.

In addition to his sophisticated barbarity in The Walking Dead: Dead City, he also shares Negan's dark humour and wit, as Gimple further teased:

"Jeffrey has definitely been an incredibly funny villain at times, but if there were a Def Comedy Jam battle between Bruegel and Negan, I'm not sure who would come out on top. They're both hilarious."

With Bruegal's secret out in front of Negan, a war between the two villains is imminent. While he agreed to join the Dama, Bruegal does not look like a person who will keep promises.

While Negan has come far from his antagonistic ways, Bruegal might ignite his passion once more, and The Walking Dead: Dead City might see the most brutal battle between the villains in the TWD universe.
