Barclay gets entangled in the world of diplomacy with Homo Aqua in The War Between the Land and the Sea
The second episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea starts with Barclay being taken away from the meeting after the Homo Aqua species claims that she wants to speak only to him. Kate begins to investigate Barclay. She then goes to speak to him. She tells Barclay that she was not expecting that Barclay would be chosen as the ambassador.
Barclay is also surprised by the whole situation. He tells Kate that it is maybe because he had a goldfish once. Barclay’s ex-wife and child are also taken into custody by the investigators. Kate then takes Barclay to discuss the situation with the Homo Aqua. Though Kate tries to make them change the ambassador, they do not listen. Barclay then approaches them. The leader of the Homo Aqua species introduces herself as Salt.
Salt tells him that they chose him for his compassion. Salt also adds that if Barclay is not present during the negotiations, it will be denied. Kate then takes Barclay away. She tells him that she thinks that she can work with him. Kate’s words finally give Barclay a bit of relief. On the other hand, the eggs that Salt presented were beginning to be tested. Kate and her team also focus on understanding the communication of the Homo aqua.
The next day, Barclay is preparing to meet with the Homo aqua. He is being trained by Kate and her team on what to say and what not to say. They want Barclay to follow their orders. The Hommo aqua arrived along with Salt. Barclay starts the conversation with Salt, apologizing to her about her children. She then requests a glass of water from the river. After the glass of water arrives, she tells Barclay to drink the water.

However, the water is contaminated, so if he drinks it, he will have health issues, which is exactly what Salt wanted them to understand. Barclay then goes off the script and tells Salt that he understands the situation and the consequences of their own actions. Barclay’s passionate words impress Salt. She even tells him that he is her “favorite human”. Barclay is extremely happy with the way things turned out at the discussion. After the discussion is over, he returns to his hotel room to his ex-wife and daughter.
As the episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea continues, Barclay’s daughter speaks to him. She is worried about his safety. At the meeting with Salt, Barclay tells her that there will be a guaranteed reduction in the 50% pollution by 2065. However, she refuses to accept it. Right then, a stormy cloud surrounds the area.
Waste begins to fall from the sky. It is revealed that this waste is coming out of the waters, and the Homo aqua are doing it. They are throwing the waste back into the land. The sky begins to “rain plastic”. At the end of this episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea, Barclay meets Salt once again. He tells her that this approach of the Homo aqua was not diplomatic. It created a chaotic situation. Salt then tells Barclay that the war was started a long time ago by the humans.
Salt then finally says that they have three conditions that they need to follow: pollution of oceans and waterways needs to cease with immediate effect, and formal designations of borders, meaning that they require all water. However, the diplomats in the room begin to question and get agitated with the demands. Right then, Salt transforms into a male form with a deep voice.
The booming voice shocks the people inside the room, quieting everyone. Finally, Salt gives the third condition, which is that the next meeting will be held below the Atlantic Ocean, as she wants them to prove the equality they claim to have. Barclay then agrees to the proposal. The stage is now all set for the intense meeting that will happen below the water in the next episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea.
