Release date & time for The War Between the Land and the Sea Episodes 3 and 4

Episode 3 of The War Between the Land and the Sea releases on 14 December at 8:30 pm. Episode 4 follows the very same night at 9:20pm. Both episodes will be released back-to-back in the UK.

The show stays connected to the world of Doctor Who aka The Whoniverse, but this story is also a stand-alone project. The famous Doctor will not be leading the show, but instead, the Doctor Who spin-off series has Sea Devils at the front and center of the show, which makes it exciting for fans of The Whoniverse.

A line that first teased the show came from the episode “73 Yards” (the fourth episode of the fourteenth season) when the Doctor literally said,

“That coastline, Ruby! The rocks and the water. It never ends, the war between the land and the sea.”

Now, The War Between the Land and the Sea is totally living up to that warning with Episodes 3 & 4 dropping on the 14th of December.

Where to stream Episodes 3 & 4 of the 'Doctor Who' spin-off

For fans living in the UK, The War Between the Land and the Sea is right where you would expect it to be. Episodes 3 & 4 will be streamed at the same time on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. This means that you can easily watch the episodes live on TV or stream them the very next second that it drops.

Episode 3 of the Doctor Who spin-off series will be released first, followed by Episode 4. For fans living outside the UK, this part might sting a little as the show will not be aired on Disney+ until 2026, which means that for now, the Doctor Who spin-off series is a UK based even first.

The cast and the lore of the Doctor Who spin-off series

The cast of The War Between the Land and the Sea is filled with faces we already know of but has a newer lore and plot. Russell T Davies is the one leading the show and he has been very open about the scale of this story.

At San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, he said,

“[The Sea Devils] wake up and they see the state of the oceans that we have put [them] in, and it is war. And it is war on an epic scale.”

Later, speaking to Empire in November, he said,

“It is very 2025 in its bones. We even deal with the water companies and their profiteering bosses, laughing in our faces. In a series about the water you have to!”

The Doctor Who spin-off series is also led by Russell Tovey who plays Barclay, Gugu Mbatha-Raw who plays Salt, and Jemma Redgrave who plays Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.

Episodes 3 & 4 of The War Between the Land and the Sea will be a treat for fans of The Whoniverse releasing on December 14 in the UK on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

Between the cast members, the Sea Devil story, and a schedule lined up, Episodes 3 & 4 could perhaps change the lore for this small and growing corner of The Whoniverse.
