Fans of The Wheel of Time have been heartbroken and hopeful at the same time after Prime Video's cancellation of the fantasy series. Fans have been trying to gather enough audience pressure for Prime Video to reconsider the cancellation; however, the results have been nothing less than saddening.
Weeks after the cancellation, Rosamund Pike, who played Moiraine Damodred on the hit show, opens up about the cancellation, and her statement feels more like another nail in the coffin that is Prime Video's The Wheel of Time cancellation. Here's what she said.
Rosamund Pike on The Wheel of Time cancellation

It has been a hard few weeks for the creators, actors, crew, and fans of the Prime Video show The Wheel of Time, since it was announced in May that the show wouldn't be renewed. Fans have been hoping for some miracle that would save the show, and they have been disheartened time and again.
Rosamund Pike, actor and executive producer on the show, uploaded an Instagram story addressing the cancellation, posting a picture from the sets of Season 3 donning her attire as Damodred with a single sentence as the caption, which read:
"Maybe I felt the end was coming and wanted to channel in anguish and rage at the sky."
This story comes as a disheartening goodbye to the fantasy series, as it appears there's no hope for a renewal of the show or a buyout of the rights. Pike was an extremely important part of the fantasy series, and her caption, which reads as if all hope is lost, is even more disheartening for fans who have been hoping for some miracle for weeks. Maybe it is time everyone in the fanbase needs to accept that the show is not going to be renewed.
The Wheel of Time cancellation has proved that in this age of streaming, no critical acclaim, audience passion, or exceptional performance can save a show if the viewership numbers aren't high enough, a requirement that is even higher for fantasy series with higher production budgets.
From the showrunner Rafe Junkins to the actors, everyone is heartbroken over the show's cancellation, but it appears as if all chances of renewal have been shut down, making it a devastating end where fans don't get to see the story finished. Judkins took to his Instagram as well to express how he felt about the cancellation:
"When I first pitched the show, my goal was to tell the whole story. These fans deserve to see the story finished."
Junkins continued:
"Much has been written about this larger trend in TV toward fewer seasons with less episodes and finding quicker ways to acquire additional streaming subscribers. But I genuinely believe that this goes against the fundamental strength of television – long-form storytelling."
Nevertheless, Prime Video has shut all doors to the possibility of a new season, so this ending might never get to see the light of day.
