The White Lotus Season 3 star Jason Isaacs reacts to his Golden Globes Nomination, says ‘My fingers are crossed’

With six nods, The White Lotus Season 3 is the most-nominated TV series at the Golden Globes this year. Jason Isaacs, who portrayed the arrogant and wealthy businessman Timothy Ratliff, a character under investigation for financial fraud, is one of the actors vying for Best Supporting Actor. While speaking about his Golden Globes nomination with Deadline, Issacs said,

“Well, I’m holding my breath. I’m getting the suit out of mothballs and my fingers are crossed."

The British actor revealed that he was in his hotel room working out when he received the news. Issacs shared that he is grateful for the nomination but credits The White Lotus Season 3 behind-the-scenes work above everything. He said,

“…For me personally, I try not to think about it. It’s incredibly flashy, you get a lot of praise, but I’ve been an actor for nearly 40 years. And the times that I’ve had amazing nominations or awards are the times I’ve been lucky enough to be around some brilliant writing and in really quality projects. So, that’s what I try and focus on. And the recognition for that is lovely, but I get on the Tube every day and I go to the supermarket, and I try and keep myself pint-sized.”

The White Lotus Season 3 is leading the TV show nominations for 2026 Golden Globes. The series is nominated for Best Drama Series, Best Supporting Actor for Jason Isaacs and Walton Goggins, and Best Supporting Actress for Carrie Coon, Aimee Lou Wood and Parker Posey.

Jason Isaacs’ unforgettable role in The White Lotus Season 3

The White Lotus is an acclaimed anthology series created by Mike White that revolves around a mysterious murder, and the many intriguing guests and staff at the luxury resort. Season 3 of the series took the audience to charming Thailand, where we are introduced to the dysfunctional and wealthy Ratliff family.

Timothy Ratliff is on a vacation with his wife and three children at The White Lotus wellness resort in Thailand. But from the moment he arrives, he is confronted with some unforeseen financial problems. He tries to evade the situation, but it only gets worse when he learns that his shady business dealings will be an end to his current privileged lifestyle.

Jason Isaacs credits Mike White for creating the memorable character through The White Lotus Season 3. Though the Ratliff patriarch will take several bad decisions, the series also exposes his complex human side. While speaking about his role and being nominated for the Golden Globes, Isaacs said,

“…Mike White is a genius and is maybe our only bulwark against the machines taking over. He just writes magnificent parts. And I got to do something, as everybody’s doing in the category. And there’s phenomenal actors nominated alongside me. But I got an incredibly complex, challenging, fabulously human part to play.”

He further spoke about the importance of writing in developing his character arc in The White Lotus Season 3. He said,

“…And then the HFPA recognized that and the voters recognized that. But the truth is that it’s always the writing. There’s some strange irony in that Tim Ratliff was having a terrible time. He was depressed and suicidal and homicidal and as miserable as life could be. And yet from the privilege of doing that comes all this kind of glamour and glitter. But I never forget what the day job is. The day job was to find talented people and sit close to them.”

Isaacs revealed that he is still in touch with many people from the show, especially the actors who portrayed his children in The White Lotus Season 3. He said,

“All my “kids”. I mean, you end up being close to the people you’re filming with. So, my storyline was often me and my kids, and my kids have all texted me this morning, and lots of other friends who were awake at strange, ungodly hours.”

Jason Isaacs is also well-known for portraying the role of Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. Recently he also appeared in Juliet & Romeo and Heavyweight. He will be next seen in The Julia Set along with Gillian Anderson and Peter Landesman’s movie, Eleven Days.
