The Witcher, one of the biggest fantasy hits for Netflix, is set to premiere with Season 4 on October 30. The show has been shadowed by several controversies since Henry Cavill, who played Geralt of Rivia, walked away from the role, and Liam Hemsworth was recast in his place.
The majority of fans are more than just skeptical towards this change in The Witcher Season 4. The latest update regarding the fourth season is an equally surprising addition to the season. According to reports from Redanian Intelligence, which is on the nose about The Witcher more often than not, Season 4 will feature a huge musical number in the fifth episode.
Here's everything we know about the musical number.
The Witcher Season 4 set to include a musical number in Episode 5
As we inch closer to the October 30 premiere of The Witcher, exciting new details are being revealed about the streamer's biggest fantasy hit. The Witcher has always been musical, but Toss A Coin To Your Witcher remains one of the most popular musical numbers for the first season. Turns out, Season 4 is set to bring back the musical number in a big way.
In Andrzej Sapkowski's Baptism of Fire, Geralt, Milva, Cahir, Jaskier, and Regis make fish soup together, and it is a bonding experience for this group of characters. According to reports, Season 4 is set to turn the fish soup cooking into a much longer event, and the group will bond by talking about their backstories.
To make things even more surprising, this is a big musical number. Yes, you read it right, everyone, including Jaskier and Geralt, will be singing and dancing in this chunk of Episode 5.
As per the comments from composer Joseph Trapanese, one of the musical numbers is set to be Jaskier's, who will perform a number full of exposition and flashbacks, and it will also reveal his longstanding history with Valdo Marx:
"Episode five also presented one of the biggest musical challenges of the season: the large-scale musical number "As The Screw Turns". This sequence follows Jaskier as he opens up about his legacy a tangled history with Valdo Marx. Blending heartfelt confession, biting humor and theatrical flair, it demanded both precision and spontaneity."
According to Trapanese, this musical chunk of the episode was an extremely challenging feat for the production. It took weeks of hard work to get the best out of the actors and the musical:
"We spent nearly two weeks on location, recording actors in the studio and on set to capture the immediacy and live energy of their performances. It was one of the most ambitious set pieces we've ever worked on The Witcher and one we are very proud to share."
It will be interesting to see the As The Screws Turn musical come to life, and only time will tell if it has the capability of taking a life of its own, as Toss A Coin To Your Witcher managed to do.
