The Witcher Season 4 starts with the found family of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri separated and on their own journeys. By the time the season comes to an end, they're still separated, but the trials through the season have completely altered them as individuals.

The fourth season, despite the controversial change of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt instead of Henry Cavill, manages to perfectly set up the fifth and final season of The Witcher.

Keep reading to find out where the final episode of the fourth season left Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, and the Continent.

The Witcher Season 4 ending finds Yennefer, Ciri, and Geralt on journeys of their own

The Witcher Season 4 ending, despite being the final episode of the season and a complete story in itself, does not end on a completely victorious and happy note for Yennefer, Ciri, and Geralt's found family. All of them go through a journey of transformation, and on the other side of it lies a self that they haven't met before.

Yennefer grows into a leader with a purpose by the end of The Witcher Season 4

While Geralt and Ciri are off into the world, Yennefer stays behind. Throughout the season, she stands and fights against Vilgefortz, trying to ensure that Ciri can come back to a Continent that is safe for her. By the end of The Witcher Season 4, Vilgefortz has managed to escape, but Yennefer builds up again from the ruins, keeping in mind the sorceresses who died for her cause.

The mages unite in this battle against Vilgefortz and plan to build a "Lodge of Sorceresses." However, Yennefer decides to hand over the responsibility of the Lodge to Triss and sets out on a journey of hunting Vilgefortz, the final straw to making things safe for Ciri again.

When the season ends, we find her going through a portal just to end up in the middle of a stormy and violent whirlpool on a sea that doesn't waste any time sucking her in.

Escaping from the demands of a prophecy that she never asked for and being seen as a weapon, Ciri joined a group called The Rats in The Witcher Season 4. She has the rare chance to live among people her own age and just be someone who is not burdened, but it doesn't last long.

The Season 4 ending finds The Rats being chased by bounty hunter Leo Bonhart, who, on finding them, kills them all one by one right in front of Ciri. She witnesses Bonhart beheading Mistle right in front of her, utterly alone in the world yet again, marking a loss of the final ounce of innocence in her.

By the end of the season, Leo Bonhart has killed every Rat except Ciri, whom he knows as Falka, and takes her somewhere unknown.

A flashback scene in The Witcher Season 4 finds Geralt telling Ciri that he had always wanted to be a knight since he was a child, and the final episode finds his dream coming true.

Geralt, accompanied by his Hanza, was on the way to Caed Dhu to find out Ciri's location; however, a shortcut forces them into the midst of the Battle of the Bridge. Geralt ends up fighting in the battle, and in a heroic turn of events, ends up leading the queen across the river to safety and victory. Honoring him, Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia knights him, making his unofficial title, Geralt of Rivia, now an official title.

However, despite this being Geralt's dream, it means that he is now under the order of the Queen. The knighthood he has long dreamt of has now become the collar that stops him from going to Caed Dhu and from finding Ciri.

By the end of The Witcher Season 4, we find Emhyr providing Geralt's medallion to a beast, thereby setting it to hunt and kill him.

The Witcher Season 5 was written and filmed back-to-back with Season 4, so fans do not have to wait too long for the final chapter of this story. The final season is set to adapt The Tower of the Swallow and The Lady of the Lake loosely to bring the story of The Witcher to a close. According to reports, filming for the fifth season wrapped in October 2025, so there is a very real chance that we might get the final season in 2026. Nevertheless, there is no official statement on the Season 5 release as of now.
