The Witcher season four is on its way to Netflix, and Liam Hemsworth isn't the only change in the cast that one can expect from season four. A character whom we saw in season two, who is extremely important in the story of The Witcher, has been recast due to scheduling issues.
Kim Bodnia played Vesemir in season two of the show, and while the character is returning for season four, Bodnia isn't. As Redanian Intelligence reports, somebody else has been cast as Vesemir for The Witcher season four.
Vesemir will be played by a different actor in The Witcher season four
Kim Bodnia played Vesemir in the second season of The Witcher, and we saw that he was the oldest witcher residing at Kaer Morhen in the 13th century. Vesemir was both a mentor and a father figure to Geralt of Rivia and the other witchers he trained. Following the tradition of witchers, he wintered within the stronghold before journeying along the Path each spring.

Vesemir endured the violent attack on Kaer Morhen, making him one of the last of the School of the Wolf. By the 1260s, he was the sole elder witcher left. Though he was skilled in combat instruction, his expertise did not extend to alchemy, preventing him from creating new witchers. As Redanian Intelligence reports, Peter Mullan will be playing Vesemir in season four of The Witcher.
Kim Bodnia had to step back from playing the character because of scheduling issues. As his representatives said to Radio Times,
“Kim will not return as Vesemir as his current shooting diary didn’t fit in with Netflix’s shooting schedule of The Witcher Season 4."
Peter Mullan is a Scottish actor who is known for his performances in Hercules, My Name Is Joe, Braveheart, Top of the Lake, Gunpowder, Ozark, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The Witcher season four will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski's Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. We will see Geralt trying to find and save Yennifer and Ciri. Jaskier and Milva will be with him on his journey, and thus, season four will finally take us into the part of the story known as Hanza.
The returning cast for season four includes Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Bart Edwards as Emhyr, Hugh Skinner as Radovid, Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Cassie Clare as Philippa, Mecia Simson as Francesca, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, and Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina, among others.
The new cast for season four includes Laurence Fishburne as Regis, Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy as Skellen, and Danny Woodburn as Zoltan. The show is created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who is also an executive producer on the show along with Simon Emanuel, Alik Sakharov, Tomek Bagiński, Jarosław Sawko, Piotr Sikora, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Steve Gaub, Matt O'Toole, Mike Ostrowski, and Karol Żbikowski.
The release date for the fourth season of The Witcher is yet to be revealed. The first three seasons of the show are streaming on Netflix.
