The Witcher Season 4 might just be one of the most anticipated releases lined up for this month. Much of this anticipation is owing to Liam Hemsworth being recast as Geralt of Rivia following Henry Cavill's departure from the show. Every promotional image or video featuring Hemsworth as Geralt is being subject to a lot of critical attention from the internet.

While being concerned about the recasting, fans of the show are also looking forward to how the Netflix show will handle the adaptation of the final seasons. One of the biggest points of discussion has been the adaptation of the time that Ciri spends with The Rats.

According to recent reports from Redanian Intelligence, Witcher Season 4 will be loosely adapting one of the most infamous events of Ciri's time with The Rats. Keep reading to find out what happens in the books and how the show is set to adapt them.

In Andrzej Sapkowski's books, Ciri leaves the Continent, Geralt, and Yennefer behind and instead falls in company with a group of criminal misfits called the Rats. The time that Ciri spends with the Rats is one of the most important parts of her journey and her character's growth.

By the end of The Witcher Season 3, Ciri has found herself in the company of The Rats as Falka. In the books, shortly after Ciri joins The Rats, one of them, called Kayleigh, tries to assault Ciri sexually and doesn't stop until another member, called Mistle, chases him away. However, the horror doesn't stop there, as even though Mistle chases Kayleigh away, she ends up taking sexual advantage of her vulnerable and emotional state instead.

As per the reports from Redanian Intelligence, The Witcher Season 4 will be adapting this scene from the books, but it will, however, be toned down compared to the source material. Kayleigh is set to force himself on Ciri and be chased away by Mistle, who then perceives this protection as something that Ciri has to pay for. She then asks Ciri to stay the night, and, being physically and emotionally shaken, Ciri agrees.

Mistle's character is one of the most controversial parts of The Rats storyline, and the bond between her and Ciri has been the most debated among the readers. This incident contributes a lot to that debate, adding context to the bond between the two, making it an essential addition to the season.

As mentioned in the books, Ciri and Mistle will then go on to form a relationship in The Witcher Season 4, however complex and messed up that may be. Christelle Elwin, who plays Mistle in The Witcher, also expressed her experience with playing the character, further adding to the importance of the character and the scene:

[Mistle] is this amazing complex young woman who chooses her path despite the odds against her....I had to totally empathise with all of Mistle’s more questionable choices, but.."

The Witcher Season 4 is set to premiere on October 30, 2025.
