The Witcher Season 4 is going to be released on October 23, 2025, and will be the first season to feature Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, who will be replacing Henry Cavill. Other cast members include Freya Allan as Ciri and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg. Yennefer has been a vital character in the books, games, and the show.

While the show portrays the various challenges faced by Geralt and Ciri, we have also seen Yennifer find herself, her powers, and sacrifice her dreams and the people she loved. As Redanian Intelligence reports, Anya Chalotra spoke about Yennifer’s plan in The Witcher Season 4.

Anya Chalotra on Yennifer's journey in The Witcher Season 4

Yennefer is a sorceress and was originally from Vengerberg in Aedirn before she was discovered by Tissaia de Vries and taken to Aretuza, where she trained to harness her magical powers. Decades after achieving her full powers, she came across Geralt of Rivia, with whom she developed a complicated romantic relationship. She also grew to love and protect Ciri as if she were her own child.

At the end of The Witcher Season 3, Yennefer reluctantly stepped into the role of leading the surviving mages, uniting them against Vilgefortz, who was the real threat behind the turmoil. Though separated from Geralt and Ciri, she is promises to find them both after taking care of things at Aretuza.

As Redanian Intelligence reports, Anya Chalotra spoke about her character's plans in The Witcher Season 4, saying,

"Yennefer is gathering mages to help get to [Vilgefortz] from all angles. It's not necessarily that he's more powerful. It's that he's clever and he is playing mind games with us all. But we've got a lot of minds that are coming together in season 4.

Chalotra continued,

She's fighting for something so much bigger than her. She's fighting to save her daughter. Also, at the end of season 3, we see her mother figure die, her mentor. So with that gone, she has to step up."

Yennifer has been one of the strongest characters of The Witcher franchise, and Season 4 will see her more in charge and more in action. She needs to make sure Vilgefortz is defeated and Ciri is safe, which won't be an easy task. But she's one of the most powerful sorceresses of the Continent, and Season 4 will hopefully prove that further.

The new cast members, other than Liam Hemsworth for Season 4, include Laurence Fishburne as Regis, Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy as Skellen, and Danny Woodburn as Zoltan. The show is created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, based on the novel series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is also an executive producer on the show, along with Simon Emanuel, Alik Sakharov, Tomek Bagiński, Jarosław Sawko, Piotr Sikora, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Steve Gaub, Matt O'Toole, Mike Ostrowski, and Karol Żbikowski.

The Witcher Season 4 will be released on Netflix on October 30, 2025. The first three seasons of the show are streaming on Netflix.
